Can anyone recommend a tripod?

Hey guys

I'm trying to find a small tripod to use with my Holga 120wpc as recently its been really windy and the wind keeps moving my camera and ruining my shots.

Im looking for a small tripod that can be set really low (10cm off the ground) and that the legs can spread really flat to make it stable. It would also be nice if the mount was adjustable to the camera can be mounted in portrait and landscape.

The camera came with a gorilla-pod type tripod but this is close to useless and the camera acts like a giant sail and it just blows over. I dont know if I'm my needs are unusual but I cant seem to find anything even close to this so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Well not that much anyway! lol

My main tripod came from Lidl and cost £5 but I was going to splash out a bit more on this as I know my needs are a lot less mainstream, maybe up to £50.

Thats heading towards what I want, the legs are spot on. I need a bit more distance between the camera mount and the legs though so I can mount the holga in portrait orientation while having the legs fully spread out

with the Redsnapper, you can mount the head on the bottom of the upright, and hang he camera below the tripod if you need to - it'll put the camera down to touching the ground - albeit upside down - but with a pinhole camera like the 120WPC and no viewfinder, what does that matter.:D
 
I've got a Giottos GB1060 which is small, well made and only £30

Amp34 has wriiten a review (although he has not pictured it with the legs spread :naughty:)

I've recomended this a few times and if you do a search you'll find a good review about it on TP. I think you might be looking for something like this Giottos I have one and swear by it - fits into my camera bag, is well made and lightweight. You'll need to buy a head with it but you would get their basic one for around £30.

Thanks bemcsa and aberal, that seems exactly what Im looking for.

Its good value too, but I think I'm going to have to do some saving for the ball head as it seems to be nearly 3 time the price of the tripod!

No you wouldn't. As mentioned their basic ballhead (which I use) is around £30. It also fits onto their full size tripod legs. Having said that - if I had my time again I might fork out on one of their better heads, for adjustability if nothing else.
 
manfrotto make a tripod where you can reverse the center column but it aint cheap (120 ish for legs)
 
Since I bought my red snapper, all my other Tripods are now resting. good bit of kit for the price, and seems tough enough. seems to travel well, light enough to be carried all day with a shoulder sling, fits well on my rucsac when I am up on the hills and mountains, I have fitted it with a Manfrotto 486RC2 head. and breaks down to fit inside my luggage when travelling by air.
