A colleague was asking me about compact cameras as he was looking to buy one for his holiday to the Canaries next year.

Sadly I know nothing about them and thought I would ask the people that do.

He has a budget of approx £100 and would like a quality camera with at least 14 MP and a 10 x optical zoom. He would also like a camera that is capable of recording video in HD. :D

Can anyone recommend something.

One of the Panny Lumix or Olympus range would be worth looking into
 
I bought my son the T200 for £85 for Christmas - Its OK!!

I don't think you will get a 10x optical for that budget, 4-5x at most. I'd go Lumix and shop around to get the best for your £100
