Campsites in Norfolk

Well we're considering camping in Norfolk this year and am looking for a few ideas.

There are a few provisions, we've a couple of young(ish) kids and a dog.

We're hoping to find something near water (the sea or a lake perhaps) and if possible with fires and a wood.

Yeah I know a bit of a tall order, but if you don't ask and all that :)

Used to go here.

Didn't camp, but those that did seemed well catered for.
There's a swimming pool....dogs are welcome and the walk to the beach takes all of two minutes.
For such a small village there's a couple of nice places to eat too.
 
Thanks for the link but they only have information on caravans, maybe they've stopped their camping side of things.
 
We enjoyed pinewoods at wells-next-the-sea, also woodhill Park at East Runton, both dog and kid friendly and near the sea

I just checked....you're right, they no longer take tents.

One thing I have noticed more so with sites in Norfolk is that they're a lot more holiday park than camp site over there for some reason.
 
Only on my phone just now so it's a pain to do links, have a Google for deepdale camping. Nice simple campsite :)
 
I live in Norfolk myself - Deepdale camping is a good site and there's a real nice cafe (my Daughter works there so I can vouch for it, great food)at Burnham Deepdale in a complex with Fatface clothes, a couple of gift shops, small supermarket & fuel station altogether so pretty much catered for. It's central for the North coast as well so plenty to roam around and is right on the coast road, only a short walk to the sea & sand.mAlso a little further inland is Sandringham camp site. Set in the woods around the Sandringham estate and again a good place to explore the west and north from here. Coast from here is only a couple of miles, Snettisham being the nearest. So far as I know they're both dog friendly as most of Norfolk is to be honest.

Am Norfolkshire, but do not do camping, a colleague does though and I will ask her tomrrow...

Thinking North norfolk would do you best, there are some around Kelling Heath but I'll get her advice tomorrow and post it on... How old are kids? If NN there is a pool at Sheringham with slides etc... as long as 1m + talll...
 
Thanks all, I'd seen deepdale and it was on the shortlist, in part because its in my cool camping book from 2006 :)
 
My mistake that was pinewood, but it was still on my shortlist
 
have camped at Searles a few times and it is a nice place, we like it because it has plenty for the kids, a bit of golf for me.. and its a good base for days out driving to Cromer etc.. its more a holiday entertainment place than a bog standard campsite though.

ukcampsite website is a great resource for finding sites and reading review.
 
Thanks again guys - I've been using ukcampsite quite a bit and its funny, if I put in campsites near the sea in the North that allow dogs and campfires there only one all out ten star but.... its clothing optional!! Not something anyone would want to see, but we did have a good laugh about what the kids would have said :D
 
lol, no - but looking at that brought memories flooding back of my wife in her student days and the "bucket of booze"
 
Hmn, thats a bit different from the ones I'd seen over there.
