Hello.

The weather seems to be quite warm in the day so we were going to visit the beach. Its around 2 hours from me so thought about camping over night.

The only problem is the weather has given 6 oC at night and I was wondering if this is too cold as it is still only April.

I also have a 4 year old daughter but with the 3 of us we should be ok in a 2 man tent?

Thanks

Six Celcius is not uncommon in summer in the UK (quite balmy in Scotland) so shouldn't be a problem, so long as your sleeping bags are up to scratch.
A bigger concern for me would be the tent size. For "two man tent" usually means "two midget tent"
Warm drinks and food for the morning are a must. If staying at an organised camp site, you'll be fine. If camping in the wilds, think carefully about things you might need.

its never too cold for tenting, if you have the right gear and an adequate not too big tent all is good, quite often we will see a family of 4 in an 8 person tent with sleepover quality sleeping bags going sleep in the tent and waking up in the car :facepalm:.. kit yourself out smart and you are good to go all year round.

6 degrees, wow thats tropical :)
On a serious note we went camping over Easter, one evening we had ice on the guy ropes! As David says, if you have the right gear you'll be fine. As a minimum I'd say foam pads, a good sleeping bag, thermal clothes (nothing wrong with sleeping dressed). My son was in thermal trousers and t shirt under his PJ's and a super over the top. He was fine.

We go camping probably 6 times a year starting in March and ending in October. Another good investment is actual camp beds that get you off the floor, only issue is the space they take up. Can't wait for our next trip. :)

If you don't have 3 season sleeping bags put a fleece blanket or even a thin single duvet INSIDE the sleeping bags, it works well. Foam mats are cheap so take a few each.

i live in north wales ,on the coast i can see the sea from my front windows , although brighter during the days this week there has still been a bitingly cold wind ,trees are very late coming into leaf up here the nights are put the central heating on cold .it will take a few more weeks for the ambient temperature to rise enough to advise camping with a 4 year old imho

I agree... and that wind is biting...

I'm sitting in a tent @ castle donington, 3c last night felt a bit fresh :)

We wild camped in deepest Wales a few weekends back during a 4x4 trip.

There was a torrential rain storm and 60mph odd wind gusts. My tent ended floating on a river and I was soaked through..

Loved every minute of it!
It was a tad chilly though.
