Hi,

I'd never seen this before (suggested by strangeways in another thread I didn;t want to derail) and it looks a great tool - http://camerasim.com/ - and well worth a look.

I've been playing with the SLR simulator and I want to know if anyone had managed to get a good shot in dim indoor light?

Go on, you know you want to play :)

I don't think it's possible, even when you have the ISO to the top and the aperture as low as it will go you still need a decent exposure. And seeing as the girl is moving, it can't be done :bang:

Can't get a good in door shot, no option for flash!

I don't see the point of that sim.. I only see one image of the girl with the whirly thing and I can get a pat on the back shot without changing anything.

What am I missing?

haha, thank goodness its not just me, funily enough its something I try in the real world and even a simulator tells me I'm wrong :bonk:

One day I'l give in and just admit I'll have to drag teh flash out of the bag and learn to use that too!!

hmn.. I wonder if theres a flash simulator!

Well I thought it was good, how often in the real world can you get a kid to keep still while you test every setting your camera has and then whip out a tripod and test all over again ;)

I don't believe I've just tried this when I amsurrounded by an aray of cameras along with sun outside!!!
I'm not sure of my views on it...I think for me personally it's a gimmick...maybe offers some limited help to those learning the basis of aperture, iso and shutter speed....Not really my thing to be honest!

Me neither, tripod, wide open, highest ISO, fastest shutter speed and still no good. :annoyed:

The only way to do it without flash is to underexpose it and then use photoshop

1/40 iso 1600 f/2.8 and you get 'a little grainy'

Its good for learning the difference between correct exposure and right exposure and what you want to achieve. It is also pretty good for learning about shutter speed and DoF. Basic but helps noobies :)

It helped me :D

It is useful to learn the correlation between ISO, aperture, speed, tripod etc. Voted hot

Just got the mrs on it now, it seems to be helping her out more than it did me, but she's new to the dslr game and I'm not. I'd been using one for about 10 months when I found this but, I've only just managed to persuade her to get off the green box and live view and she's improved a lot. I like a bit of competition anyway.
