Yes
has anyone used either of these companys before?

just wondering really, there prices seem to be quite good.

All grey imports and read the warranty details, not worth the paper its written on.. both will only replace a defective item for the 1st 30 days that you own it, after that they insist on repairing it, after the 1st year the warranty is with an outside company, the remaining 3 yrs are for parts only.. you have to pay the labour costs.

Given that nikon bodies for instance come with a 2 yr makers warranty its not worth it.. you save £60, get crap delivery (my brothers next day delivery took a week!) and aftersales service is at best hostile.

*edit* on checking both are the same company running at least two websites under different names.
Also note my brothers brand new D90 came with no paperwork at all, no warranty card etc and he is unable to register it with nikon.

it was the right place and yes hang on for Stuart or look around for deals from reputable dealers, at the end of the day my brother only saved £60 on the D90 body he bought and to quote him, "I've had more than £60 worth of grief already and I haven't even got the ******* thing yet!!"

Anyone that describes their Nikon D90 5 lens kit as being a Pro kit when it includes screw thread wide angle/telephoto adaptors and classes them as a pro lens, isn't worth looking at in my book, if it looks to good to be true, it usually is.
Oh and yet another one that states, "if your camera packs up in the first 7 days we will replace it or refund you". Only 7 days?

Parks are damn good, if their local to you its even better, you cant beat a good reliable dealer on your doorstep.

*Edit*
Just turned up the below thread, turns out they're grey imports as well, no Nikon uk warranty, the warranty is with their agents, a Glasgow camera repair company.

Thanks Ian you've been extremely helpfull and saved me alot of potential future problems,
really glad i asked now:)
hopefully stuart will get back to me today with a good price.

thanks again Ian;)

Also search for previous threads on Camerabox. I, and far too many other people who posted here, had credit cards cloned immediately after using Camerbox. Coincidence? - I'll leave you to make up your own mind.

I have to say that I have used Camera Box in the past and found their service excellent. I did have a problem with registering my purchase but on contacting Camera Box was informed they register all products on the purchasers behalf before despatch using the e-mail address supplied on the online order form. Hence when you attempt to register the product yourself you get the error message " This E-mail address has already been registered "
This is actually explained in their F.A.Q section on the website.

A bunch of shisters
ordered camera at 1.30 pm, THURSDAY as i try to do then rang, checked availability, paid for next day delivery thats extra
all confirmed on the phone with sales agent,
next day (Friday 2.30pm No camera, rang them up you'll get it Mon/Tuesday.when i asked why i was told it would be dispatched as stated across their web site,i was told i should have read terms, when i asked why agent told me it was going to be dispatched, they told me it was an error on their behalf, they could cancel my order until i sent email,by the time i had logged on to web,i received an email saying item had been despatched, arrived Tuesday week after, returned it before it came off city link van,10 days later still waiting for my money back CON MEN

i had the same issue with camera box when buying 2 canon 1000d kits, very difficult to make contact with and will allways tell you 'it'll be delivered tomorrow' when it hasnt been despatched yet, but all was well in the end, after some card fraud was commited soon after the purchase...

Which is bull.... Nikon, Canon etc are ALL grey imports, there is no manufacturer warranty on them in this country, international warranties from the major companies only apply to lenses.
Once again just to make it clear, if you buy a camera body from them you have NO manufacturers warranty, only this companies and their third party providers, if you contact Nikon or Canon they will tell you its not their problem.

i appreciate you may want a new d90, but it's well worth checking out the 'for sale' forum on here... I bought my D90 here at the start of the year for around £470 I think, and it's been brilliant and was/is in mint condition.

I've had a couple of lenses off them in the past.

First lens I got was a 50-200 VR a few years back. The lens I received was a non VR model, fingerprints all over the glass. I gave them a call and in all fairness they were really apologetic. Sent a replacement next day and collected the 2nd hand non VR.

I was a bit sceptical ordering again but based on how efficiently they dealt with that problem I thought I'd give them a go so ordered the 80-200 with them.

I emailed a few questions to them which in fairness the first email they didnt answer so I added them to MSN and they were never online. I resent the email and had a pretty brief reply so decided to order with them anyway based on cheapness and being protected a bit more using a credit card.

Long story short lens turned up with no issues at all (touch wood) and so far I'm glad I used them.

Would I use them again?

Maybe... I only found out they were grey imports after I got my last glass... I don't think that would put me off ordering a lens through them if they were cheap enough (Seems to be not much more than 2nd hand on ebay for most stuff I've seen). Not sure I'd order a body through them though but I'm not sure I'd order a body mail order from anyone.

Ive bought a few times off camerabox, the 50 1.4 canon that I got stopped focusing after 6 months. Emailed them they, filled in a form, sent it straight to canon it was back with me in just over a week working perfectly.
I cant fault them

yes i have considered it and would still consider it if the right one came up with a lens or something like that, i missed one by a wisker last week that went for 600 with a 18-105 lens:bonk: still kicking myself now about it tbh.
thanks for your advice:thumbs: and if you see one or a kit going give me a shout;)

Is it really worth saving a few quid by buying from a company that has no B&M property or little background?

Buy from recognised UK dealers, worth the extra.

ordered a Samsung WB 600 on October 5th from them after seeing that they had 11 in stock on the web site, nearly £50 cheaper than Amazon.
They promise next day delivery, after waiting 6 days, emailed them on the 11th,no reply, eventually got through on phone.

Told the so called expert customer service about their conflicting website stocks,11 when I ordered, nil in stock next day and more stock expected on October 8th,requested a refund of my payment which was taken on the 6th October despite them having no stock.

Then informed me that I had to email their sales department requesting a refund, this I duly did and received a reply stating that I would recieve my refund in 30 days although they aim for 14 days.

Sent another email telling them that 30 days was completely unacceptable.

Got reply saying they are allowed 30 days by law, what a ****** of a company, would recommend not touching with a barge pole.

John.
