Hi there,

Havent posted on here for a while, but just thinking about possibly getting a small point and shoot digital camera that records HD quality video.... I've been wanting to get a video camera for a while - but dont think I can be bothered to lug it around with all the other stuff. I've got a canon 450d which is perfect for pictures, however just want to get a small camera that the wife can use, and we can record some decent small videos of our little baby girl.

Has anyone seen any advertised in the christmas sales so far??

Thanks

I think the Fuji S2000 might be exactly what your looking for. Check out the reviews

I recently bought the Kodak Zi8 pocket camcorder, can record onto sdhc in 1080p,720p,720p/60fps,wvga and can take 5mp stills
Low light isn't that good though

I've been looking at the FZ38 but have seen the "Cameralabs" review which states the non-european version can record until the memory card is full (the FZ35), but the european version (FZ38) has been limited to less than 30 minutes due to european tax laws!

Can anyone confirm this? If so, I will import the FZ35 as it would be useful to know that if I needed more than 30 mins recording I could use it!

I've owned video cameras for about 7 years and I can honestly say I have never recorded more than a 30 minute clip at any one time. You will find you'll record multiple clips of a few minutes each time

But for AmDram and concerts I'd set the camcorder on a tripod out of earshot of my SLR while I take stills, and record the whole performance. This being in the comparatively safe environment of a village hall.

What are the recommended options in more video-oriented gear? Something small enough to take along instead of a lens.
