I am looking for something a bit like remote control cable but also capable of controlling exposure compensation, aperture, etc. For example Weebil-S stabiliser has a USB cable that connects it to the smart handle controls where you can change all your main settings. Of course in this instance I need something small, discreet and standalone for tripod use.

I can probably get it tethered to android phone and run apps, but seriously long cables, extra screens and clumsy setup is the last thing I need now. It's an accident waiting to happen.

Why? Because I don't want the camera moving even a pixel between takes and standard bracketing on most cameras is outdated and imprecise, nor it supports flash at the same time. It is for Canon, USB-3 port but broader support would be very nice.

Camranger - No cable runs and remote control from tablet or phone.

This controller has been around a while.......so maybe a stopgap you seek????

My cameras have no WiFi. They need cable just hopefully one that can do some of what these apps advertise without the complexity of attaching the phone
You don't need wifi on your camera for Camranger, it creates wifi for you.

Thanks I'll have to look into it. I think I'll be waiting for a used one to show up

Have a look at the Pluto Trigger. Amazing bit of kit.

Dougie.

Some/various of the apps here www.androidauthority.com/best-canon-apps-android-785594/amp/
Mention USB connecting as well as WiFI
Worth a read to see if any suit your requirements? ;)

Thanks. I've installed a couple and will have a play when my OTG cable adapter arrives (a short term / test solution). My needs for now will be mainly change EV compensation, sometimes ISO and maybe review histogram. You never know I may find some other functions very useful.

I have little idea at this point where to hang the phone from the tripod while cabled up. There has to be some clip on phone cradle for the tripod leg or something, but maybe quite loose fit... It is certainly not going on the hotshoe as that would defeat the aims to this excercise, besides that is reserved for Godox flash controller.
