Camera Straps

Hello,

I am looking for a camera strap for my Canon 200D. I want something so that I can walk around with it ready to shoot with... (not in a bag)... but also, (if possible) having the camera not flapping around. Maybe some sort of quick release system.

Worst case scenario, I will take just a neck strap but if there's some sort of quick release neck strap that can pin the camera to my body, that would be great?

What's about that would serve such a function?

The best option imo is the peak design slide, however it's not fixed. I think the only type of thing that you can get that's fixed but ready to go in an instant is the holster type system such as the spider holster or spiderpro system

What you are looking for is a Capture Clip

There are also several copies of this design, at lower cost - I've not personally used one (or a copy), so can't comment on how good they are, but I've considered getting one several times, and would use it with a strap, so you had a backup if the clip failed.

The Spider Holster that Toby mentioned is another option (again, there are copies available).

I’ve used the capture clip and didn’t like it, it never filled me with confidence it was that secure.

Peak design slide fulfils your requirements.

Thanks.

I think a combo of the 2 suggested above might be best. The strap just for backup protection.

Please keep any ideas coming.

It might be worth checking out RucPac.

I have been using a Peak Design Slide for several weeks without any significant issue - until today. My issue was that the bottom mount (screws to camera tripod mount) that helps enable over body/shoulder that keeps the camera in the small of the back, loosened off without me noticing it. Somehow it actually failed as I was bring the camera around to use it so I was holding the camera when it failed. It took a second to realise what had gone wrong - so pleased that it failed then and not when I was not holding the camera. The Allen screw had completely undone.

I was using a tripod on last Saturday and know I used an Allen key to tighten the mount back up as someone asked me what I was doing. I understand you should always check kit, so in as much it was down to me, but I am going to be real careful in the future with it.

Scary, I’ve never had a tripod plate loosen off but I make sure I fit it so the anchor point is such that the strap will act to tighten it further if anything i.e. it causes a clockwise force on the plate when it’s hanging if the makes sense?

I tried a few alternative straps but came back to original canon ones, used over the shoulder not around the neck and usually one on each shoulder.

I think your method is right. It has been great until today and plainly I did something unusual.

I bought one of these a few weeks ago - I had an issue with it (my expectations not the product) and the customer service was EXCELLENT and issue resolved. Very happy with the product - comfortable, practical, cost effective and secure. I have no ties with them. FWIW
