I am thinking of getting a Peak design camera strap as the Nikon ones twist up and slip off the shoulder. Anyone have one and their thoughts on it, or any other camera strap worth considering. Prefer replies from members that have/ use them if they would be so kind.

Thank you

I have used peak design, Black rapid. I prefer peak designs use of the bobble attachments for ease of getting off and on for single strap but blackrapid for their dual harness. I sometimes use the spider pro belt clip thing but the plate and ball mechanism doesn’t allow for easy switching onto a tripod plate if you want to have easy transition between strap and tripod that both pd and br allow.

For just the camera and a small lens I use the strap that came with the camera. For my riding lens, I use a cheapish (£35.00) shoulder harness from London Camera Exchange to spread the weight over my shoulders instead of my neck.

I've used Black Rapid and Peak Design.

I moved from Black Rapid to Peak Design based on recommendations but regret it.

I bought and still have a Peak Design Slide, I like the idea that it can be easily detached from the camera with the anchors and can be used in different ways, however, the strap itself if terrible. It doesn't fold away very well as it's quite rigid, it looks like a seatbelt and feels like one, the slide mechanism often slips and the slide itself is metal so I'm always having to think where to put it to avoid scratching something. Actually thinking about it I've probably only used it a couple of times in the last few months due to the fact I dislike so much about it.

Have been using peak design slide for ages. I like it but sometime a bit big and cumbersome (although it takes the nikon d750 with sigma 150-600 with reel ease). Lately if i have a smaller lens i use the new peak design leash which does all i need very well.

Just moved over to Peak Design Leash for my X100F as it’s much softer and more flexible than the PD Slide Light which I still use on the X-T2.

I bought an Optech Pro strap for my 80D from a seller on Ebay for £13 delivered. I think it is well worth the money, much better on the shoulder than the thin OEM straps.

So have you made a decision on what to go for?

I am hankering towards the peak design purely because the camera can be attached to a tripod without unscrewing the strap first , Already dropped a camera so lesson learnt to keep the strap around the body, The quick release also allows the strap to be changed from one camera to another, save having to get 2 or 3 straps.

Got to try and find a local company that stock them first to try out

So, despite being an Op/Tech advocate this thread got me looking at the Peak Design straps. I ordered an Cuff Wrist strap from Amazon and have to say I'm impressed. Being more like a seat-belt type material it's thinner and less sweaty than the Op/Tech wrist strap (which is neoprene) and the anchor connectors are much easier to get on and off than the Op/Tech connectors.

I might well give the Peak Design Slide a try now.

I have the cuff and it paid for itself in December when I slipped on some rocks at the edge of a tidal inlet. As I stopped myself from falling my EM1 went out of my hand and flying into the sea, only to be stopped by the cuff cinching my wrist! it went out of my hand with such speed it actually hurt my wrist a bit!

I have the peak design slide and it is a great strap. Being able to remove it quickly and only a couple of very small pieces left on the camera is very useful. It does slip, however, with my 6D + 35 f/2 on it when walking around, not much but enough to notice. So if you have a heavy camera and lens combo on it then bare this in mind.

I'm in the same boat, looking for something for a camera and 70-200 lens. I can't make my mind up. I have gone off the idea of the peak designs stuff due to the metal clip and the black rapid has changed so much since I last looked. I have the original leash but it's a bit too thin and uncomfortable.

Which version do you have? I see they are up to V3 now.
