Hi all,

I am looking to invest in a good sized camera shoulder bag (as opposed to the many ruck sack type bags out there). I would be looking for a bag capable of storing two SLR's and up to three or four lenses.

Can anyone recommend such a bag. At the moment I am drawn towards the Tamrac Pro 8, but am open to recommendations from others' experiences with such a type of bag.

Cheers,

Matt.

A Crumpler daily might suit your needs? They're pretty massive! I've got the XL, and I keep a Canon 450D + Tamron 17-50, a 100mm macro, 70-300 IS with hood, mini tripod, 430EX, rocket blower and extension tubes (I can e-mail you a photo if you want?) as well as filters etc in the front pocket.

If you want the best check out both Billingham LINK which are made in the UK or Domke LINK which are made in the USA

Either will cost a fortune! But they literally last for decades. Among other bags I was using a twenty year old Billingham (similar to the current 335 model) but made the mistake of buying my son a 30D and I've hardly seen the Billingham since! I bought a Domke F2 to make up for it and it's equally as well made but perhaps slightly different in concept.

They're not as "flash" as many of the modern bags available, but if you're looking for top quality shoulder bags don't discount them.

cheers

I use the Lowepro Stealth Reporter 400AW. It will carry my D700 and D300 plus 24-70, 70-200 and a couple of smaller lenses or a flash. The bag is deep enough for the 70-200 to be stowed on a body if required. The internal partitions can be altered at will or removed and quick access can be gained through the top without undoing the main zip.

I have the slightly smaller version and really like it. I can get my 50D, 3 lenses and associated cables etc in it.

Thanks for all the good recommendations. I must say, I am quite taken by the Lowepro Stealth. Food for thought!

i use a timbuk2 bag hacked for my cameras.

i use a medium messenger bag which works great for one body and a couple of lenses. a large messenger would am sure easily fit two bodies and a few bits of glass.

to me the great benefit of this solution is you can use the bag easily for non photo stuff. mine doubles as a gym bag quite often! also nice when on holiday not to draw attention to yourself like a regular camera bag does.

Also check out the FStop Maverick

I've got a lowepro magnum AW, it's similar in some ways to the stealth reporter d400, but not quite as quick a access, and it can (with the correct positioning) hold 2 pro bodies, gripped, with lenses attached (one fast tele, one normal/wide) with hoods out (personal preference, I hate lens caps..), a couple more lenses and a flash or two if needed... very durable bag, used as a bit of a staple of commercial photogs for quite a long time IIRC.
