Hi there
Does anyone know any camera shops in Newcastle (preferably North Tyneside) that buy cameras?
Sadly going to have to part with my D90 :'(

D&P Photographic on Gosforth High Street is probably your nearest proper camera shop that deals in second hand. There is a phone shop on Saville Street in North Shields that buys phones/laptops/cameras. Other than that, Cash Generators etc.

Dont want it going to cash convertor type places, its a decent bit of kit and has an extra lens with it so want it to go somewhere decent.
I'm quite close to Gosforth so will try there.

Thanks Dave

+1 for being Nikon friendly......I once went in asking about lenses for my K100D only to be told they only deal with proper cameras like Nikon......!

What about Bonsers down the Bigg Market, the last time I was in they only had secondhand stuff on display.

Yep, walked passed Bonsers today - definitely closed down.

First Jacobs, now Bonsers and I assume Jessops will follow soon. So no 'specialist' camera shop left in Newcastle city centre.

I'm less surprised by Bonsers than by Jessops, Bonsers were a train wreck looking for a place to happen, I thing the 21st Century caught them out, they had a website that looked like it was made in about 1995 and visually never improved. The shop was full of old film equipment and tat at high prices and the stuff sat for months.

I got the impression they didn't approve of digital and just hoped if they ignored it enough it would just go away.

I have never heard of them so I'm not surprised they shut. If they were good I would've expected to have known of them. It was sad to see Jacobs close.

If you're going to sell look at MPB, Ffordes and mifsuds and see what prices they will offer. Don't restrict yourself to a local shop.

Bonsers had been trading for over 50 years. The national chains didn't arrive in Newcastle until the early - mid 80s with Jessops then Tecno and later Jacobs. Before that it was local dealers; Turners, Bonsers, B&R cameras, Necastle camera centre and at one point a Photomart franchise in the Arcade

Well I'm 18 so I wasn't alive in the dark ages :P :P ;)

You'll get more selling in the classifieds or via eBay though surely?
