The camera is one of those which has the lens open out longer. Sounds like a drive rachet isue to extend the lens It is the panasonic DC- TZ95 pocket camera.
So I took it for repair over Duxford airfield to a Panasonic repair specialist. This is where Top Gear was filmed from. What an amazing place with several large aircraft parked there.
Eventually found the shed number amd met the repair guys, I like to know who I am dealing with.
They said this is a common fault and already have 3 others waiting for the same parts to arrive.
Left the camera with them and now just got to wait.

as it is apparently a common problem make one think tweice aoujt getting this type of compact camera. the thing I like about it is the panoramic feature which makes getting worth it

Various companies at Dunsfold ;) including "Manfrotto Spares" (other makes in their arsenal too IIRC)

Hopefully they will be able to sort your Panny out.
 
OOPs my mistake I did mean Dunsfold. Trying to find the right "hut"it took some finding. Perimeter security I thought was pretty lax though. First the barrier was lifted out of the way for us to drive past. Then asked the secuity guard where the address was on the paper I had printed out. He never asked for any ID. I could have been anyone up to something doing you know what. NO vehicle inspection I could have been carrying anything. No follow up calls to see if I had arrived where I should be.
In fact the whole area was open to anyone who turned up
One sign on the way out said ""No photography yet my Dashcams could record everything as we drove around :snaphappy:


Makes me wonder what training the security guards have

For all practical purposes it is now an Industrial Park and FWIW the only places I ever needed to prove identity were "secure" establishments and all of those were pre-booked appointments.......oh, this was when I was still working.

I would not expect to prove my identity at 99% of industrial parks.
 
That 's useful to know. Dunsfold Park is somewhere we're often near, but I had no idea that it was photographically useful for spares and repairs.

As mentioned, like any Business Park with gated access you need to book an appointment so that should they decide to check the business knows you are there. In relative terms the buildings used are sparsely space out and IIRC all of them are either the ex(old) military airfield ones and the old BAE works buildings.
 
We've been there a couple of times in connection with Wey and Arun Canal Trust events, but the most recent was 2018 (I think). That one did involve driving round the area for parking.

Back in my army days I had to vist another camp, this was at the hight of the IRA bombing and this camp had already had issues. I had to replace another guy from our unit as he'd broken his leg, and I was one of the few who who could drive . On arriving in uniform in an army landrover I gave my name to the guard (actually armed with real bullets, not a pick handle) He looked down his list and said NO, your not on the list. I though for a second and then gave the name of the bloke I'd replaced, ok he said, pass and and opened the barrier.
I couldnt believe it, I'd given him two name and he never questioned it.
 
The name was on the list so you can come in!
 
change of sbject somewhat. I was in Belfast attending my best mans wedding at that time with the IRA bombing. was happening. I stayed with one of the brides family and a bomb went off around the corner and blew up a paper shop. I already knew the bride as well so had a great time. A few weeks later the place where the reception was held also got blown up.

It would be a disaster for the dogging fraternity if they did.
