Well my Camera decided to play up on Saturday and Sunday just gone.

The shutter button was a little odd both days and then failed at the end of the day Sunday. Any recommendations on a suitable repair, i've seen how to fix this on the web and it is far too fiddly and messy for me to want to attempt this

allegedly this is a common problem for EOS 50d and coincidentally on the Saturday the EFS 17-85 decided to lock on at 17mm but this was a much easier DIY fix

TIA

The only repairers I have ever had to use was Fixation, in London. Did a brilliant job on my D7000 (focussing problem).
Might be worth a call?

My 50D did this shortly after I bought it, was repaired for £ 30 by Dereham Cameras (local to me). Otherwise I would send it to one of the list on Canons website, either Canon themselves or Colchester Cameras.

I have also had a positive experience with Fixation repairs. They repaired my Nikon camera and lens fine, although there was a revised estimate given for the camera.

Depending on where you live, try Fixation as previously mentioned, who are in Vauxall (London), Canon UK at Elstree, Colchester Camera Centre or Lehmanns in Stoke.

Right well ive decided to attempt a repair by PJ Camera repairs in Newcastle Under Lyme. They will warrant the whole camera not just the repair for a whole year from completion.
for 120 Inc vat and carriage in and out so i think im quite satisfied with that

Thanks for your comments everyone :-)
