Hi folks, I need a bit of help.

I recently had a Canon 1000D (well I still have it) but the other day I bought a new Canon 650D.

I have photoshop CS5 installed on my windows operating laptop.

When I tried to open a RAW image from the 650 onto the laptop it said it wasn't supported.

I have version 6.7 CAMERA RAW and apparently need version 7.1 to view RAW files.
I don't want to go to the expense of updating to PCS6.

What do I need to do to open my RAW files?

Any help will be appreciated as long as it doesn't cost me more money

Thanks

I think you need to update to CS6 or used the Canon software that came with the camera.

Usually dealing with new RAW file types is included in free updates sooner or later.

Agreed but the also want you to upgrade from CS5 to CS6

Adobe wanted £188 to upgrade from CS5 to CS6.

Every penny is now a prisoner after just splashing out on a new Canon 650D so I'm glad I found that convertor.

Download the free DNG converter from adobe, that converts your raw into adobes own version of raw which CS5 will open.

It's another reason to use LR. Upgrades to the latest version are cheaper than upgrades to PS, and if you need to do PS-specific stuff you can export your image from LR to PS as a PSD.
