I'll soon be doing some nightclub photography and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction for some sort of protective equipment for my Canon 400D, 17-85mm lens and flash unit. I'm not entirely sure what might be available but I've noticed some of you wildlife snappers have all kinds of weather proofing devices.

Protection from what though?

Water? Sand? Bullets?

To be honest you should be ok in an environment like that... the waterproofing covers you will find a massive pain in the behind. Its not like you are out in the tipping rain.

taken my 450 out in the rain and it didn't mind, just make sure if it get wet wet you take out the batteries (the button cell aswell) and leave it somewhere to dry with all vents open, clear water is fine the stuff in it is the issue - salt water killed my 400d

It'll survive pretty much anything in a club, the only thing that would cause concern is the sprinkler system or if you drop it in a sink behind the bar. The odd splash or two won't do any harm :D

When walking/pushing/barging through crowds hold the camera above your head, just don't accidentally hit a 6'6" brick ****house in the face with it though ;)
