Beginner Camera / Lens matchup.

Hi, new to the forum so this is my first post. I have a Nikon D3000 that I have owned for a few years which I have been totally happy with including the 50mm lens and the 55-200 zoom, both Nikon lenses.

I have just bought, although not arrived yet, an aftermarket lens and am now confused as to whether it's going to fit and work fully.

You are correct this lens is screw driven for AF by a camera body that has internal focusing motor. The D3000 has not got a built in AF motor.

Could I pick the brains of the knowledgeable then ?

I need a second camera body so could you suggest a compatible camera for the lens ?

I can then get hunting on eBay as I'm too young in service I think to access the classifieds on here.

A belting camera if you can afford one. It is `full frame` though.

It's an amazing camera, a few years old now but still probably the best all round DSLR you can get IMHO.

Just to keep you updated. The lens is non cpu but was able to program the camera via the settings to accept the lens so all is good. The auto focus is working. The pics are not 100% perfect, maybe a little cloudy or maybe I need my eyes testing !!

I think that lens is very old so it's quite possible the lens coatings are not optimised for digital hence the loss of contrast.
