Hi All, weird one..

Does anyone out there buy/refuse something that didn't look aesthetically pleasing..?

What I mean is that I was looking for a mid range short lens the other day and kept finding myself looking at the Canon 17-55mm..

I seemed to refuse to look or consider buying it as I just didn't like the look of it fully extended.. (where as my Sigma 50-150 is fixed length)

Am I MAD?

I consider the aesthetics when buying certain things but no, not camera gear.

Ergonomics yes, but not aesthetics.

That said i probably wouldn't buy a bright red lens with pink spots on. That would clash terribly.

Yes, I do this all the time. If it looks like (is) Canon gear, I dont buy it :D

It's all about the red ring.

i had a iffy curry last night and my ring is a bit red this morning lol ah but what if the lens is white with no red ring ?

Had to go for sometimes. I'll admit to originally buying one of my Fuji XF-1s in Tan (with matching coloured case) because I thought it looked better than the black one. Then, a week later, having bought a fresh car with a black leather interior, I swapped the case for a black one to match the car. More recently, I bought another XF-1, this one black but with a tan case, so I now have one to match the car (sad, aren't I!) and one that looks better!

Not sure I'd ever buy kit based purely on looks - I'm much more function than form.

Part of the reason why in the past I bought an x100 and a Leica m2 was looks. I hate lenses that increase in length too (other than 24-70 as this is minimal)

With all that said.. Would anyone starting out be more swayed with a big sigma 50mm 1.4 or the smaller canon 1.4..?

What about customers..? Do you think they see big glass and instantly think pro..?

I think they do to a degree. If they see a big camera and lens they think pro. They are paying partly for your expertise and also for the kit you have which all other things being equal will be better than consumer type kit.

Similar to what others have stated. I have, well more of a pain in the @rse than a red ring. It's called Fracster:mad:

All I can suggest is more loob then!

Nah - don't do running! I could tell you of a couple of bars in Glasgow that cater for those of that inclination though... Used to work in one of them.

lol the waterloo pub not that i have been in there mind and not every one in glasgow is gay well so my boyfriend tells me lol

That was one of them, the other seems to have been knocked down! It was under a hotel and was called (I think!) the Prince of Wales but it was over 30 years ago that I worked there, back when Glasgow culture was what grew between Weegies' toes!
