Camera Insurance for 4-5 months travelling overseas

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

I'm going travelling for 4-5 months around Asia and possibly to the USA as well.

I need to insure my 550D, 10-22, 50mm 1.4 lens and camera bag for the trip and I guess, for when I return to the UK. I already have basic travel insurance for health/cancellation etc, but they won't cover individual items to the value I need for the camera gear.

Doing my research it seems like Photoguard, Glover and Howe or Adduki are the best options. E&L not so much!

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good insurer specific for long periods abroad as an amateur hobby photographer rather than as a pro. I won't be making any money from my photography while travelling, just shooting for fun.

I plan to call all the various insurers today as well, just after some opinions from people who've used them before :)
 
I have photoguard atm and just trying to sort my D7000 that was killed in Myanmar. They have been fairly reasonable so far but the proof will be when they pay out! I just need to send proof of ownership and theoretically they should be happy.
 
That sounds good to me.
Photoguard seem to get good reviews and are a decent enough price.
I just need to check if they'll start a policy with me outside the UK and continue it when I return home.

'I am interested in taking insurance out with yourselves.
However on reading the security requirements, I am not sure i can meet what you specify and I am worried this will effect any claim I have to make, should I need to.
Reason being, I am taking my equipment to Ibiza for 5 months and although I can confirm the kit will be left in a secure locked apartment, I cannot confirm the locks meet BS standards etc.
Please advise'

'I can confirm that you would have to meet the security requirements if you were abroad unfortunately.
The world wide cover only covers you for up to 90 days per occasion and your excess doubles when you are abroad as well. '
 
I was worried about a similar thing...

Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure it will be covered by your house insurance! Might be a limited time only though. I was away in Morocco for 3 weeks.
