Hi All,

What is the advantage of a Camera Grip. I have a 30d and I appreciate that they offer an extended battery life but do they offer anything else?

Thanks!

IIRC, the 30D grip also adds extended camera controls?

If not though, remember that it tends to add to the way the camera handles in a way such that most people who get one don't know how they ever managed before without one. I suggest, if you havn't already, going and trying one out. See how it feels :)

Ability to shoot portrait without twisting yer wrists..

Extended battery life is a massive plus for some people .. certainly was for me on the old 10d ... but not for others..

i got a nikon grip with the D200 and i must say its fantastic, camera feels more stable, doubles battery life, i can shoot portrait and have all the functions on the grip that the camera has around the trigger

one of the nicest investments i got so far

Thanks all. I'll go down to Jacobs and see if I can handle one.

Im thinking of getting one for my 40d but I dont really think its necessary as its a good deal larger than my 350 to start with. I also have a couple of spare batteries so I can quick change if I need to.

I put one on my 5D after I had the disaster of a batt going flat on me! I was amazed at the way it handled in different positions, two batts, long way between replacing, FUN.
