Hi all, I'm looking at getting a dslr camera and was gearing towards the canon 600d before I found its been discontinued in uk stores(from where I've looked) they showed me the alternative which was 100d but I'm not to sure about this camera being new to dslr cameras I'm just after a little help on this camera whether any good or not and could you also recommend a few other cameras looking in the price range of about £400 please.

650d? around same price of a 600d except its the newer model and touch screen. I have a 600d and love the rotating screen, its a good starter camera so I would personally recommend the 650d as its the newer version.

What's your personal opinion between the 600 and 650 though? Is it worth getting the 650 instead as there is a upgrade to that one the 700 isn't there? Which a lot of people don't reccomend? Your thoughts please and thanks for the replies I appreciate them.

And Nikon is an upgrade to both. :D

Go with either and whichever you can get your hands on, there will be no significant differences that will stop you getting the picture. The 100d is a nice camera aswell but you lose the flippy screen and it's a bit smaller.

That's a good price, Dean. £10 delivery.

normally its free delivery on hdew if in UK. very odd as i got free delivery with my lens recently from them and also with my canon 60D ( maybe if over £500 its free on camera bodies )
after hearing about the warranty issues with digital rev people have had id never buy from there no matter how cheap

I've found them to be very good. Fast service, email confirmation, tracking, follow up to check on service, free postage.

for your budget the 18-55 IS STM lens with the canon is a great starter. the STM lens is a step up from the standard kit ( great for video too ), its very fast STM motor is near silent and on a crop sensor camera 18-55 is equal to 28- 88 so good enough for portraits and the like.

if you want UWA for landscape canons new 10-18 ( £209 from hdew ) is an absolute gem.

I've checked on the hdew website at the 700d I know it comes with the lens aswell but I may sound a tad say dumb here but what else would come with it ie photography editing software like I've saw on other websites with said camera and would you say it would be better to get the 700d rather than 600d on personal experience would you say 700 is better should I say? Excuse all of the questions just been asking people and not go very far in shops and that. Many thanks

all canons come bundled with canons own photo editing software as standard . in regards to over the 600D
700D faster processor, more fps , stereo mics, touch screen.. other than that all consumer canon cameras are pretty much hairs breadth apart in reality.
end of the day the only real difference you would see between say a 100D and say a 60D would be down to whatever glass is attached to the front of it in 99% of cases. sure you may get slighty faster fps from one or the other, a few extra minor features you may or may not use but they are all pretty much similar

One last question has anyone bought anything from www.hdewcameras.co.uk ? need to know of the sites genuine to buy from.

Just search the forum, loads of threads on Hdew.

My mate bought a 70d and a 24-120 lens from them a few months ago without issues.
