Scouting a nearby lake this morning and this car screeched to a halt, we live in France, so it was a local French guy who said to me in French, (which I barely understood as I would have needed a few minutes to figure out his expressions), but what he said was "I saw you out of the corner of my eye" etc., ........ anyway he is a member of the local "Camera Club" - he started going on, (he saw my Nikon stuff), and said that he was a Canon shooter but was changing to the Sony AR7 kit ...... then he opened his boot to show me all his "drone" kit.

But the outcome is that he invited me to the local Camera Club, 20:30 this evening next to the Marie

We live in the "middle of no-where", so I was surprised that one existed

.......... what could I have let myself in for? .......... never been to a Camera Club meet before .......

Best brush up on your semi technical French, Bill! As here, I expect French camera clubs vary in their interest so it's probably worth a visit just to see what goes on.

Thanks Nod

I will give it a try ....... but I'm a bit apprehensive though as I could meet the French equivalent of Brian or David!!!

presumably there will be the odd glass or two

Go for it, was nice off into stop and chat with you and invite you along.

You've nothing to loose, other than a few hours if its not for you.

Enjoy and yes there'll probably be a glass or 3 :)

Thanks Nod

Equally, you could meet some of the good guys!

Hopefully it's within walking distance of Chez Bill so a few glasses can be imbibed (always helps language skills IME!)

I've just checked their website and apparently they have someone coming along to do some 'modelling'...

"JeanLuc, 64 ans avec mankini."

Well he was Honest enough to admit his purchasing mistake and is rectifying it too, so he cant be all bad :naughty: As long as he drone stuff did not have USA military markings on then I would have a go.....and spread the Nikon Gospel.........:nikon:

what do i need to take with me? .............. "a portfolio" and all my camera stuff or just a bottle of red?

What does one take along to the first night at a new club?
You've got me there as I've never done it.

no way I am going to make it as I have just spent 60 mins on a FaceTime call with the UK and have not eaten, (it's France - the evening meal is essential)

Your new mates will be upset- an Englishman who doesn't show...

You've made a whole nation look rude. :p

Drop in for the end to at least look willing. Plus, they'll probably go for a drink afterwards...

I'm from Yorkshire, we don't do "rude" !!!^&$

I missed his "drone" presentation

I sent them this image to chew over and said it's "art" - "barnacles under the water line" - clearly it has a deeper meaning than the literal

I got a message back saying "can you eat it?"
