If anybody has ever been in Camera Centre in Morgan's Arcade in Cardiff, they'll know what a tiny, overstuffed nightmare it was to actually look at anything in there. Well, they've moved to the unit opposite, which must be at least five times the size, and now you can actually walk around and browse and everything. Much better.

(They didn't have a clue about the Hasselblads/Bronicas they were selling, but that's entirely another matter)

Can you tell what's actually for sale now and what's just the owner's Leica collection spread randomly about the cabinets? :)

I must confess I kind of like shops that are a bit quirky like that, though.

That said, I did end up spending much more money in Spillers last time I returned to Cardiff (which was also true when I was a student there in the late 80s)

last time i went in there, they were more interested in the pc than me...so went else where, no one even asked what i wanted...
and there was four of them in the shop, not very helpful either....
I had bought three cameras there in the past ,and numerous lenses, won't again..
Yeah, they didn't seem too eager for my custom, either. I actually like not being bugged by sales staff, but they weren't too enthusiastic when I did ask them about the Hasselblads.

I'm not sure what's happened to the Leica collection and its accompanying "these are not for sale" signs!

A bit off topic, but do you know Aperture Photographic, near the British Museum? Brilliantly quirky!

Indeed. Nice to be able buy a coffee while browsing the cameras :)

The Leica and Nikon focused stock the carry is the only reason I don't go in more often.

I agree, I didn't like this place after seeing the dirty dusty shop and the staff not being very helpful at all when I was looking to spend £1500 on some new kit. But I've been to CCC since it moved across the arcade, and it's a much nicer shop now with enough space to actually move around. I bought a second hand lens (which I'll be honest) didn't work, but after going back to the shop the following day he replaced it immediately with another. The woman in there also allowed me to take new Canon, Sigma, and Tamron 24-70 f2.8 lenses out one by one to try on the street with just my driving licence as a deposit. Got to be honest, I was quite impressed.
