Don't appear to be any comments about this, so wondered if anyone had dealt with them? They are offering Canon 7D's for £1225 but dont know if these are grey imports.

Hi Barry,

I've bought a few things off them, and none have been grey imports.

However, my experience has been a little mixed, depending on which brother you deal with.

I bought my D300, D80 and girlfriends D50 with 2 lenses off them, and wanted some extension tubes and negotiated a deal for a slight reduction in price due to buying 2 cameras at once. Unfortunately, the extension tubes were out of stock so I had to go back a week later where I dealt with a different guy in the shop who pretty much insulted me regarding the previously agreed price, in front of other customers as well.

Suffice it to say I wasn't a very happy customer!!

I bought my A700 from them mail order (ebay). No problems.

I have also been in there a few times and not very impressed with there customer services the times i was in there.

Sort of glad to see that it wasn't just me.. lol

I've bought my 40D from them and a few bits and bods. I couldn't fault them personally and will almost certainly get my next camera from them as they price matched also.

Thanks for all the comments. If I do purchase through them it will be through mail order, so appreciate all the comments. Thanks again.

I've not dealt with Cardiff personally but a few friends have and they've not had any complaints... If you're looking for a decent Welsh camera shop though, I'd thoroughly recommend Carmarthen Cameras. If you ask for either Neil or Steve and tell 'em I told you to go there, they'll make sure you're looked after. (I got my 7D from there by the way). :)

Regards,
Si

me too....bought my d70 there, also d300 & many lenses, from them...sometimes they can't do enough for you ...then other times ,you think why do i f+~@ing bother, last time i was in there ,(christmas time) I thought i was invisible, me and the wife...we stood there for ages ,and no one asked if they could help......so i went to jacobs instead and give them the money.... and that was with a empty shop....

Bought a second hand mamiya in there many years ago, which after a closer inspection was faulty as the lens board would sometimes get stuck when returning from closest focusing position (maybe my fault, should have looked closer). They refused to take it back and didn't want to know or help me.

Eventually settled for a gift voucher to the same value. Should have stood my ground really, but I was naive.

Never been back in there since.

Once bitten...

That's the sort of shop I like! I don't want to have to fend off shop assistants, I want to browse in peace.

Believe me, it isn't big enough to take long browsing or to avoid the staff.. lol

Anybody remember their second hand section in the window?

They just piled it all on top of each other, and it just sat there gathering dust for ages. Lovely view, it were!

Friend bought his 1000D + kit lens there. When he got home and opened the box, it had an extra battery (non canon). I personally would have taken it back at that point- since it had obviously been opened. It's a really small/pokey shop, I personally prefer Jacob's (but not the old guy that works there)

If this is the guy I'm thinking of, I went in and asked if they did part exchange which he confirmed they did.

When I told him I wanted to buy a Canon 40d and grip and trade in my canon 350D and genuine canon grip he laughed and said that I would be lucky to get £20 for them if I sold them second hand. I sold my grip for £70 on here and kept my 350D as a second DSLR. That's why I went to Camera Centre cardiff where I bought my 40D.
