Yes
Has anyone had their cameras calibrated by Canon/Nikon. If yes, what prompted you to have this done and did it work.

The reason why I am asking is that I have done a couple of shoots and they have not appeared correct. I am using a 30D and various lenses (70-200 f/4, nifty, tamron 90, Sigma 24-70) and they are all slight mis- focusing.

I have used all these lenses with good success but the last two shoots my results are nowhere near as good as usual.

Will a camera calibration be the answer and how much is it?

Many thanks.

I have had all my L series lenses calibrated by Canon under warranty. I reckon if you pay the kind of prices these cost, its a fair do to make sure they are spot on. Almost every one has either been slightly rear or front focusing or has needed a slight adjustment.

Definitely worth it IMHO.

Hmmm, ive been having similar issues but have been unsure whether is was user error....

Might be worth putting them in to be check before the warrenty expires?

Certaily, Matt. doesn't cost anything, except perhaps getting them there.

Generally its the user that needs caliberating, not the camera ;)

I suspect thats the problem, ill do some tests and hold my hands up if its ok! :)

Sorry for hijacking the thread - ill shut up now!

There is a service anocronym you might find after a service for "focus problem"

NAFFTC

"Not Another f***ing Focus Test Chart"

Serious.

What do they charge if it is out of warranty?

Thanks for all the spa..... er .... replies but could you read the OP again and try and give answers to the questions

My 70-200 f/2.8 is on the way back from sigma after some severe front focusing problems, just hopes its ok now!

Tiler, not sure if you have the info you need. I meant in my first reply to your quety that in lenses it is def worth getting them calibrated. Also I know if you have a camera lens issue (and they are both Canon) then the Ellestree service centre will check them both and set them up for each other, however it seems to me that you are saying that this is something that has recently happened, and I suspect everything is out of warranty. Suspect it would cost quire a bit to get canon to check both, can't you find another member near you and see if it is a body problem? Must be plenty around Manchester.

when did you send your lens in, i took my 120-300 f/2.8 to them on the 2nd of Jan and it still aint been finished, they said the software broke at there offices and had to get new stuff from japan and have only just got it, they are now saying it will be another week to a week and half. :(

I think you charged me just over £100 to do my 1dmk2 and that included a full service calibration.
