does anyone have any experience with the bg-e7 camera battery grips? are they worth the investment? have heard a few rumblings about not taking normal batteries. was thinking about buying one (when i can afford it) but now not so sure.

any help appreciated!

nick.

I have found the battery grip for the 7d to be extremely useful, I shoot a lot in portrait and it definitely helps. In general I find it much nicer to hold with the grip

Another grip fan here. Lots of battery life, and it makes the cam feel more like a 1 series, I like big, hehe.

Really worth it if you ask me.

Use the grip on my 7D, wouldn't be without it, shooting in Portrait is more comfortable, the extra buttons are great, and also find with a longer lens on it feels more balances with the grip.

I've had grips on my 40D and my 5D2 , they make the camera's more balanced to use.

I had a genuine Canon one on the 40D but use a MeiKe one on my 5d2 it's just as good as the Canon one and at £79 a darn sight cheaper :D

Longer battery use, better handling and balance. All been said already.

:plusone:

Both my 5DMKII and 40D are gripped... The handling benefits are obvious once you use it and the one for the 7D also has the addtional buttons too.

I collect mine on Thursday as when I went to pick it up on saturday the shop could not find it, so had to order another one!!. Very good price as well only £134.10 from a major high street camera shop using 10% discount code off of the web :). Will be the first grip I have ever bought so will let you all know how i get on.

wow - pretty resounding yes then. looks like ANOTHER thing to save up for then.

roguet - be really interested to see how you find it.
