I need to get a higher capacity bag (currently, I have only a Billingham Hadley) which can accommodate a D90, Nikon 70-200mm, and also something around 17-55mm, and later, a flashgun.

My preference is for a shoulder bag, and something discreet. I know many bags these days seem to have those plastic clips/strap locks, but I'm not a big fan of those - especially when hands are cold.

Anyway, suggestions welcome, thanks!

Well Mr Racer

I don't think they come more discreet than the Think Tank.

Since I tend to avoid carrying a laptop as well my favourite is the Urban Disguise 40. Mine holds two pro-sized SLR bodies in the front pockets, three good sized lenses including a 70-200 or 100-400 and a flash. In fact the flash could go into the outer side pockets but I would rather have it in the main compartment.

TT also have their much-desired Retrospective series but I rather like the small footprint of the UDs in respect of which a Version 2 has just been released in the States.

Try Snapperstruff, Morris Photo, Harrison Cameras or if a Jacob's if there's one closeby.

Hope this helps

I like the TT, and the UD. Just wondering is there a bag that will transport the camera, with, say, the 70-200mm attached? Quite often while out shooting I like to put the camera in the bag, hoof it to a new spot, and so on. It saves the camera/lens swinging around my neck and reduces the risk of it taking a knock.

I would recommend having a look at Crumpler bags. However, they seem to change their lines every 3-6 months.

The UD35 will allow you to do that I believe Mr Racer

Your D90 with 70-200 goes into the center of the bag with the 17-55 and flash sitting in slots on either side. You'll still have a laptop and front pockets free. Have a look at this and related images.

It still retains its' small footprint and won't cry out ' camerabag '.

Pretty good I'd say

Cheers

Anything Lowe-Pro. Forget shoulder bags - eventually they'll twist your spine and kill you.
Get a rucksack-style one and be done with it.
By all means get a stealthy shoulder bag to put your other bits and bobs in when the cameras are out and in use (I actually like the non-photographic Billingham look-alike bags for this purpose), but there's no point having a big, empty camera-bag bouncing on your hip, is there?

Take a peek at the Tamrac Pro 12. It's a top loader, takes al my kit and a mono pod (would take small tripod instead), lots of space and the price is right.

I just bought a GEM Professional Camera Case and it's awesome for the price. Fit's a D90 and all the kit fine!
£26.96

Personally I think getting a Lowe Pro makes you a bit of a target and says to all the criminals out there "hey there, I got "1000's of kit here!"

I have several Lowe Pro Bags, all of them have uses at different times, I can not see how it screams I have £1000's of kit, unless you know who Lowe Pro are and what they make, The only time anyone would know what is in my photo treker awII is when I have my tripod slung on it.

You can do that with the Think Tank Retrospective 20. The camera and 70-200mm go lens-down in the middle with room for a lens either side, and further room for a flashgun and plenty of bits and bobs in other pockets
