So just wondering what you guys think

Do you have a camera bag specifically for your gear? Or do you use a normal backpack when out and about, or do you use nothing at all?

If you use a camera bag what are your thoughts on it? Anyone have any recommendations or thoughts on what should be avoided in the camera bag world?

Same questions for backpacks as well :)

Feel free to add pictures of your current set up bag wise

When im commuting to work I throw my A7 Sony series camera on a beenie hat and then inside my backpack

For a kit (body(s), lenses etc.) I use a backpack or, very occasionally, a shoulder bag but for a single body and lens (maybe with a second lens if there's space for it) I sometimes use a TopLoader holster type bag. Places like Mifsuds, Ffordes etc. sometimes have a small selection of 2nd hand bags so if you know what you want/need, you should be able to buy one relatively cheaply and sell it on at little or no loss if it doesn't fit the bill kit.

Ordinary rucksack albeit either a proper hiking pack with a frame or a lightweight backpack with decent straps and backpads.
My camera and lens is kept in a smaller bag, usually a Lowepro Apex 110 which drops in the above bags. Any additional lenses are carried in Lowepro lens cases, also stored this way with a dessicant gel pack

I found photo specific packs had no room for other stuff like food and clothing or a hydration bladder if required. Also the packs didn't have a frame or anything to stop them resting against ones back causing sweating

Do have a shoulder bag (Tenba Cooper Slim 13) very rarely used though as I much prefer the rucksack solution

I have a lowepro as a main bag. Think it's a 250? Something? Space for a laptop to be against your back, a top area then the bottom half designed for gear. Can at a push get the d750 and 150-600 there but normally it's the d750 and a couple of lenses plus maybe a film camera/flash etc. Top part can fit camera and lens but not as well protected. It's 7 years old but in great shape and excellent build quality. My main bag for work or out and about.

If I am going out somewhere and want to be lighter or I know it's 'cleaner' I use my newer lowepro. Cannot get access when wearing so good in crowds. Can fit d750 plus lens and x100 plus one or 2 other lenses in.

What we need is some sort of other forum where we can discuss photography related things.... :coat:

;)

I use a Lowepro flipside 400aw. I keep my gear in it all the time, and take it in the boot when I go out. It carries my D7000, 150-600, 10-20, 24-120, flash, filters, etc.
I have actually used it as a backpack a few times fully laden, and although quite heavy (7kg) it was comfortable.
I also have a small shoulder bag that carries my camera with 24-120 attached if I'm just shooting general walkabout stuff.

I've always generally looked for a decent sized camera backpack that lets me carry my gear and space for a few other things.

I've got a smaller bag also but haven't used it very much.

I have a couple of lowepro messenger bags of different sizes (they don't seem to make the specific type any more, but google images shows them), depending on what I'm taking, I find shoulder bags easier than backpacks, though I have one of them too. At home my kit lives in a massive Peli when not in use.

mainly use a Domke F-2 Original but I also have a Kata(now owned by Manfrotto) DR-467 backpack which is great for long sessions as I have the matching camera strap they attaches to the bag straps so the weight is supported by the chest not the neck.

I have 2 canvas shoulder bags for 2 different outfits that I wear across my body when out, usually with the camera body suspended from the other shoulder. The smaller one is from 7 day shop, and was about £30, the larger has the name Caden on it and came from China via ebay for about £13, however I replaced the padded inner for a slightly larger one for another £8. Both are very functional, and will take a laptop as well as camera body and 2 or 3 lenses + accessories.

Caden bag now £15: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Canva...r-Shoulder-Bag-For-Canon-Nikon-/263060632090?

I have both a thinktank retrospective 30 shoulder bag, and thinktank street walker pro backpack that I'll alternate between.

If I'm actually on a photo walk or generally wandering around on holiday I'll sometimes leave the bag,and just take my D750 and 24-70 with me, hanging from the hip with a blackrapid. If on holiday and out in the evening, I'll just carry the camera loose in my hand, with no strap - to avoid it being a 'faff'.

Im a backpack guy. Have tried shoulderbags, hipbags and loads of different types but found that a good backpack puts the least strain on my bag and keeps me going a lot longer than even the lightest packed shoulder— or hipbag.
When in the mood for shooting even to/from work and when not needing space for groceries etc I throw the ICU containing the kit I "need" in my F—Stop Guru.
