Camera Bag - Musty Smell

I have a 'like new' Lowepro 200AW which I had on sale here until my wife told me that it smells slightly 'musty'. It's been in an airless cupboard for months which probably accounts fir it as it has never been outside or got wet. Antone know the best way to get it smelling fresh again?

I put my one in the wahing machine then left it open in a warm place for a week , no problems as the zips are plastic/nlylon

Washing machine and then hang in the fresh air.
Do NOT use any of that evil Febreze type stuff, will stink for ever more and nigh on impossible to get rid of.

I bought a bag that had been sprayed or washed with something similar, washed it numerous times with no effect then binned it.
Its also lethal to asthmatics, some people absolutely reek of it these days, almost giving off a vapour haze
 
Thanks for your replies. My wife's sense of smell is better than mine but even she says it's very slight, so I'll try hanging it out in the fresh air before doing anything drastic. :)

I don't suppose it is the material it is made of, is it? I have had a few new bags with a strange sweaty plastic smell.
 
I don't think so. The smell is only on the inside. I think it's just the lack of air circulation with everything zipped up and it's been in a cupboard for months. It will probably go in time then I can sell it! It's like new.

In that case, a good airing out should do the trick. :)

:) I'm afraid I might end of wrecking it - it's quite a large bag to put in a washing machine. And it ain't dirty ;)
 
That's a good idea. At the moment it's hanging on the line in the sunshine. I'll see what it's like later and decide if it needs a wash.
 
I've just brought it back in and it seems fine to me. I'll probably end up selling it cheap rather than risk washing it.
