Right so ive invested in a 400mm 5.6L And my camera bad i have at the moment is just not big enough. Are there any decent and not too expencive ones out there? Backpacks are fine also!

Thanks for your time!

Nick

Browse www.cambags.com and then look up the prices on whichever UK sites give you the best price. The site is user reviews which show the bags with actual gear in them.

If you're looking for a top loader, I find the ThinkTank Digital Holster 50 works really well.

That video you sent me to was very helpful but im not sure if it would fit the 400mm fitted to my 550D in there. Thats the only problem :/

Tamrac Expedition 7 will fit most things, its pretty big, so happens i may be putting mine up for sale. ;)

I've just brought the Think Tank Streetwalker pro and can fit my Nikon D40 with a Sigma 150-500 lens attached in the bag with room at the bottom for filters, etc. I've also got a standard lens and a 70-210 in and still have loads of room! I brought it from the London Camera Exchange for £129.The sternum strap is adjustable up and down which for a shorty like me is great and it's a taller but slimmer bag than some of the others which are more of a box shape. The extras like camera straps that hook on the front of the shoulder straps to carry heavier cameras is a nice touch. Check out the website as they have loads of different ideas!

I've got a Tamrac Expedition 9x and can get a 7D with 100-400 L and a 5D2 with a 70-200 2.8 IS L end to end comfortably. Plus a Sigma 150-500 OS and 3 other lenses and 3 flashguns and other bits. Maybe that's overkill for a 550D and 400 5.6 L but something in the Tamrac Expedition range would be perfect.

Agreed. I went even smaller and got the ThinkTank Digital Holster 30 v2.0 - with the extension section zipped out it fits my 40D with the 400mm 5.6L attached (hood retracted) with nearly an inch to spare.

Two things to note - first, the padding in the extension section of the Digital Holsters is thinner than the main section (but with a 400mm 5.6L there's plenty of room inside to add your own padding or use a neoprene sleeve/booty to protect the end of the lens from knocks). Second, the Digital Holster 30 is not wide enough if you're using a pro-size camera like a 1D, or have one of those external battery grips attached - you will need to get the Digital Holster 50 for those.

Right guys, thanks for the info! I'll probs end up getting both a holster and a backpack for different situations if you get what u mean, thanks for the help guys.

All the best

Nick
