Camera Bag for Skiing/Boarding

I'm looking to replace my normal ski backpack this season and thought I may as well get a bag designed to take a camera and lenses. I haven't had much luck at the moment finding many, anyone use one or have any recommendations?

So far I am thinking of the Dakine Sequence which seems pretty much what I want but very few places have them for sale, let alone tryable.

I'm looking for something that isn't too big, can carry at least a 400D and 2 lenses and a set of skis on the back.

Have a look at some of the lowepro bags they are great i have one myself and use it when im on my motorcycle doing all kinds of silly speeds (on closed roads if theres any police present) :p

not sure about strapping skis on the back but they might go through the tripod straps that some of them have
 
It's pretty essential that the bag can strap ski's to the back so only a specific ski/board bag will probably do for this unfortunatly, there doesn't seem that many around.

The type of bag depends on whether you are skiing OR boarding, the mechanics or the two sports are completely different. I Ski with a lot of heavy camera gear, and the main problem is the extra strain the pack places on rotational balance.

The main thing i try and avoid is too much weight low down by my hips - and thus further away from my base of support (my feet) - this helps me avoid the sling shot effect pulling you to the outside of the turn.

Therefore the bags i go for are as slim as possible, with more space high up than low down - whilst remaining narrow. Lowepro Rover AW II could be easily adapted to carry skis.

Could go nuts and get something like the DryZone Rover - though most high-end cannon gear is rugged enough not to need it - plus if its a wet day - I don’t have much incentive to ski with my bag :bonk:.

Having said all this - the 400D is nice and light - unless your lenses are super heavy, I think you should go for the bag with the features you like.

I'm a skier so what you said is pretty much spot on for me. The usual kit I will be taking out (aside from ski stuff) will just be a 400D, 300mm zoom and a couple of smaller zoom lenses so they won't be too heavy. I took pretty much the same kit out last year in an ordinary bag and it was a bit awkward to get at and didn't seem too safe. Having read your post I am now wondering about maybe just getting a protective case to stick inside the bag, and as you said just get a bag I like feature wise, have you had any experience with this?
 
You ask for a bag to strap your skis to.

I took my lidl (similar in size to a tamrac expedition 4) bag this year with a 3 lenses and 350d in with a tripod on the back and had no problems.

I am not so sure the tripod holders would be sufficient for a pair of skis though.

you could try modifying the tripod straps by adding small bungees or similar to help with the grip of the skis.
