My Canon 400D delivered today woohooo, only got the 18-55mm kit lens atm, but the guy has thrown in a battery grip and 4 batteries which was nice. Also got a rubberised 'camera armour' with it.. dont really like the feel of it though on the camera, any thoughts on camera armour guys, is it actually useful?

Just waiting for my CF card to get delivered now and I can have a wee play with it. The only downside is the sensor is a bit dirty/dusty but the chap did tell me about that before I bought so have ordered a Giotto Rocket blower to see if that will help.

All in all though I'm very happy to have got the lot for only 300 quid... now where is that CF card..... :thinking:
 
Sounds like you got yourself a bargain there.... the rocket blow should get rid of most of the dust, but if it does not just get the sensor cleaned there are plenty of places to get it done if you are not wanting to do it yourself.

Have not seen the armour in the flesh before but if it protects your new toy it must be a bonus.

Have fun when the card turns up. will watch out for some images appearing on the forum.

Thank you guys, the armour definitely seems quite sturdy and looks as though it could be a pretty capable type of mini shock absorber for any wee bumps and scrapes guess I'll keep it on for a bit and see if I grow to like it. :thumbs: I've read up on cleaning the sensor but much too cautious to try it myself just yet so will keep my fingers crossed that the blower will clear most of it.

I have just finished posting an item suggesting someone handled a camera in a shop before buying.
However, I think that in this case you should get used to the armour.

Many moons ago cameras had strong leather padded cases and for good reason. Not really possible on digicams now so any other protection is a plus point.
 
Aw well, the postie has just been but no CF card delivered today, hopefully it appears tomorrow , I'm feeling like a kid at Christmas with a brand new toy and no batteries :sulk:
