Camera and Lens Cover

I’ve successfully used a bin liner before - using an elastic band round the hood - or clamping between the hood and lens. Then using the eyepiece to finish the ‘seal’.

I’ve also used the op tech storm covers too.

I can’t stand things like this though. They’re such a faff but those two options are more affordable

Thanks for the suggestion ideally looking for something that will offer protection for the camera plus a telephoto and give access to the controls, hence my interest in a sleeve type design

I have the £18 ebay special and use it often with D500+500PF and D600+150-600C.
It is always in my backpack and has often saved my kit from a soaking. I also use just a camo or when its cold or to avoid sea/sand spray at the beach.
Works well on my tripod with gimbal and is very easy to deploy and use, covers camera and lens whilst allowing me to use the camera.
PS both lens have NC filters for added protection !

Thanks for that, always good to get some real world perspective. I'm sure the WWS version is well made but I didn't feel like spending that much on something that isn't going to see that much use from me

For many years I used the optech rain sleeves for rain protect. They are a fancy plastic bag but work fantastically on beaches if you seal them with electrical tape.

As I wanted to get a more durable cover rather than buy several optech rain sleeves I got the WWS cover. It was well made but the rain just gets through the back opening so hard to use in wet weather (heavy rain).

I’ve since bought think tank emergency rain covers which are around £30. They are great quality (similar to the more expensive ones) and much easier to use in the rain with the clear rear window and hot shoe clip to secure the cover to the camera.

If you have someone handy with a sewing machine, they could knock up a custom cover for a few quid, I use a cheapy ebay thingy "er indoors" bought, it was two for a fiver or something, only thin but I've used it a few times in rain or mostly very dusty conditions, works a treat so far.

Unfortunately not but a good idea
