Camera and GAS or maybe not

Nope not decided, I've just got a nice PayPal balance now lol.
Problem with the D500 is crop and the dx lenses just feel so cheap.

I agree apart from maybe the Nikkor 17-55mm f2.8 DX :)

True, most of the 'pro' lenses are FF and therefore the FL might not be ideal for DX, moreso the zooms. The 16-80's supposed to be pretty good, not sure about quality feel though. TBH most of Nikon's latest lenses 'feel' cheap compared with the old ones.

After reading through the questions and responses - I would suggest picking up a Nikon D610. It has a smaller form factor, and spectacular performance in nearly all areas. The video has come a long way from the D90, it is useable with an external microphone and proper lighting. The Nikon glass legacy support is great - you can find cheaper entry lenses that still produce fine results. To keep your excitement up, have you ever tried to play with older lenses, or cheaper extreme lenses (like say a 600-1200mm, MF lenses with F mounts, etc, old 35mm lenses, etc)? I find that they are a nice break, sometimes a fun challenge, and produce interesting results - I've even ended up using some of them on assignments!

Wish you the best on your journey!

I know, but that's my point. Why try it, or did you always have FF before that?
Thought I'd give the crop a whirl see if it was ok for me. Found out its not

Exactly just one in a million

Get a Nikon D5
Nikkor 12-24mm f2.8
Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8 VRII
Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 VR F
And some primes

Job done :D

Isn't the 14-24 the one to get for the "Trinity"?

I'd take a good look at used D800 prices, they've fallen a lot over the years. That and a 24-70 2.4 is pretty much all most people would need.

After owning the D750 I think Neil would find the D610 a step backwards, as good as the D610 is (y)

With the winter sale at SRS, that K-1 with a 24-70 f2.8 looks good at under £2500 all in!;)

Its a great price for the camera, although as I've said before I don't think its the camera for Neil, not enough modern lens support and the AF isn't going to win any battles with the XT2 or D750.

I'm tempted by the sigma 85mm art lens so I may just get a camera around that. I loved the 35mm they did

Seems to be a cracking lens and like you say the 35mm is a cracker.
