i have decided to go back to the panasonic HC-X1500 and got one on hold with a company waiting for a P/x Quote tomorrow. So why go back you may well ask? The panasonic HC- VXF1 did not reach my expectations by a long way and my fault I should have given it more thought before buying

So what are the issues
1= and the major one was frame rate I had not know or realised the problem, that is stuttering while panning (4k monitor v camcorder incompatible)
2= 0nly a single SD card slot
3= Flobby cold shoe cover can be heard while recording
4= Lack of image stablisation choice
5= no battery charger included
6= no remote port for LAN REMOTE

good things to balance the equation is the video quality is great

So why did I get rid of the 1500 in the first place? er indoors has been pestering me for weeks if not months to get rid of my camera gear ie, Nikon cameras/lens etc. In the end it wore me down, so I wanted the Panasonic G9ii as well, so to cover the cost I got rid of the 1500, a huge mistake.
At the moment here is a winter offer on for the Panasonic HC-X1500 reduced by £450 so decided now is the time to get a new one while at this price. maybe I am a bit mad doing it, but I do miss not having a camcorder that fits my requirements. Having been making videos for home use (and some on youtube) Having a decent camcorder seems right in my photogfaphic equipment lineup.

This time"er indoors" realises how much I miss having the 1500 she surprisingly raised no objections , so before she changes her mind ;)

any comment welcomed including about me being how stupidi have been

as you can see now the difference and why I changed back

The first's at 25fps and the second at 60fps - how does the 1500 compare if you shoot at 25fps like your VXF1 test? Or is the issue the VXF1 didn't do 60fps?

EDIT: looked it up, yup that is indeed the difference if you're shooting 4k.

VXF1 didn't do 60fps which is a shame and really lets it down. Also what I missed was not being able to remote control the camcorder as in stop/start and zoom.

I presume you set 4k/60 to 4k/50 for PAL ?

Are there any limitations with 4k/60.. you still get sound yes?

for the panning did you double the shutter or up it ?

I tried everything possible being used to using camcorders for the past 12 years or so. even double shutter speed didn't work. My 4k Monitor is 60fps and the VXF1 just was not compatible at 25 0r 30fps when seen on a 27 inch monitor in full screen.
that camcorder didn't have what I wanted ie built in ND filters for one example which the HC-X1500 has.

As the HC-X1500 is now at a winter price for November of £999 saving £450 off normal price a chance to grap a bargain if you can find a supplier with stock.

what remote do you use ?

I use one of these, I can't seem to be able to find a wireless remote controller for the Panasonic HC-X1500. I do have a very long 2.5mm 3pole cable that is 3 mtrs long.

Optical zoom and X1500 with buit in 1/16 ND filter hand held. Still got some improvement in "how to" I have to learn about again. Looks a lot sharper on monitor but degrades a bit on internet

Update
now managed to get the handle for the aboveP1000705.JPG

P1000698.JPG

P1000700.JPG
not many retailers stock it and managed to get the last one at a lower price.
Why this handle and not an ordinary one? Well this has a built in front light- dim control dial- rocker zoom in/out- start/top button and XLR ports. Just waiting now for an XLR cable for that microphone ("Azden SMX-30v) . as soon as the handle is attached the camcorder mike is cut off, The handle has a small usb port to plug into hidden in the camcorder body. so two options, cable from mike to camcorder or from mike inro XLR ports on the handle which is the better option. For there the extrnl mike can br controller for volume etc.
there is also a cradle attchment (not shown) for directional mics that screws in just abve the last port outlets in the last photo. This may well be the next buy I get, freeing up the cold shoe

No I didn't stayed at4k/60 as that is an exact match for my 27 DELL 60 hz 4k monitor .
No problems with sound, why should there be? if you have bad sound then a decent mic may be the issue. I use an Azden SMX-30v mic with reproduces sound as it should be.
just tried shutter different shutter speeds and absolutely no sign of stutter
as for quality I took this just now with the camera held outside the upstairs window

Just ordered a Rode directional microphone with a detachable audio cable. It was going a bit cheaper with Amazon black friday offer. I did have an old version of the Sennheiser MKE400, but the cable got damaged so had to scrap it. With this new Rode maybe the sound of breathing won't get picked up so much, same with footstap sounds

update
Decide to delete some photos in the camcorder by viewing in thumbnail pressing menu- thumbnail- clip -delete all/selected
What I didn't know, and not shown anywhere I could find, is that it only deletes the photos in the format they were taken in ie MOV. Any taken in MP4/AVCHD format remain
to remove others means going into the associated format first.

update

now included an XLR twin cable. . did it part for what it does it keeps the camcorder more tidy. no loose cables hanging around P1001233.jpg
