Yes
As above really.

I have seen a few go really cheap (and sometimes not at all!) on the bay and kind of wondered why?

Am I missing something?

Looking at a D200 (yes I know it's an old body but it's perfect for event work as it has wireless capabilities at an affordable price and is actually quite good for getting colour tones right too!) and they seem to go for £249 which seems good to me for what should be a low sutter count if it's an ex-demo right?

Anyone have any knowledge of these?

Be very wary. I bought a D300 EX DEMO from Calumet Notts when they were open. (now closed up) Camera seemed fine untill I did a shutter count and found it had something like 2,500 clicks on it.
Returned it and found it had been on loan to a pro for a demo, this was not originally pointed out to me. On the plus side they would have returned my money no problem but I exchanged it for a new camera at a discounted price. Calumet deal with a lot of pros and a few thousand clicks to them is nothing, and they do loan cameras out to trusted customers.
Otherwise a great company to buy from. My second 300 was faulty, it was one of the few sent out with a bent over card pin from new and was swopped, again no hastle.

Hmmm. Kind of what I thought tbh but still represents good value even with 3000+ clicks.

Would it have come with a warranty?

Yes full manufacturers warranty. I think after all they are a comany to trust.

Nice!

Thanks for clearing that up Peter.

Merry Christmas.

Is the MTF on a D300 shutter really so low that it's a worry?

DPreview give the expected life as 150,000 actuations.. 2,500 is not even 2% of that, any niggles from new would definitely have been picked up.

If the price is right, nothing wrong with a camera with a couple of thousand on the clock. After all, you're buying it to use.. not as a shelf queen.

Has anyone else had any dealings with used returns from calumet?

Picked up a used Nikon 24-70 a couple of days ago, I was playing around with it today, and to me the AF seems very hit and miss. Some shots it'll be absolutely spot on, other ones it is absolutely miles off.

Ill do some proper tests tomorrow with a tripod etc. to try to ensure it wasn't just me having a moment, but would like anymore feedback if its possible incase I do need to get back in contact with them.

Are they open tomorrow for you to call?

Dont think they are open again until wednesday, which leaves me tomorrow to try and do some proper tests. I will admit this morning I was very tired / hung over which could have contributed.

Despite the tiredness etc. I dont see how far I could have gone wrong half pressing the shutter button :/
