Does anyone have any experience with Calumet lightstands? I'm getting a 60" umbrella so I think I need something more sturdy than my Manfrotto Nano. I'm looking at the 10' model (http://www.calumetphoto.co.uk/item/MF6040/), are they any good or can anyone recommend something better?

Perfect things. Copy of Manfrottos.

Stands dont come any better.

Another vote for the Calumet stands, very good and I use mine with a 60" brolly no problem.

Excellent stuff, cheers guys. Looks like i'll be getting some of those then. Need to pick some cheap sandbags/weights as well.

They as, as mentioned above, floomin' brilliant things.

I was just looking at getting one of these today. I'm deciding between getting a 60" umbrella and that 10' stand or a 36" umbrella and a 7' stand. (The person I was speaking to in Calumet said the bigger stand was better for the 60" umbrella.)

The first option is only about £15 more - better to get the bigger umbrella and stand?

(For doing portrait shots at home.)

I run a 60 off the calumet 7ft stand, but all depends on what you are happy with.

There is no definite answer.

Also, ideally you should be making decisions on the different types of light output, rather than what umbrella is ideal for what stand. The difference between a 36 and a 60 is considerable.

I have a huge bowens Octo 150 on a calumet stand, I have a counterweight on it but its great,a very good product

Went to a calumet trade show the other day in Manchester they where offering 30% off calumet gear, see if there's a trade show soon near you, and i got a free sensor clean:D

bought 2 flash brolly brackets, and a snoot saved £65 quid on the day including the clean
