No modelling lamp on battery, as is pretty standard for battery. For that, you would need something like an Eli Quadra that runs off battery friendly LED modelling lights.

The AC/DC flash is very useful - buy the gun now and run it off mains, and the battery later if you want to take it on location.

Anything else you want to know about it?
 
I seem to remember the key downside of this light being a catastrophically slow flash duration...any thoughts on it? Also, you mentioned its size... obviously bigger than the ranger, but by much?
 
I cant say I've ever noticed any motion blur or much difference between the genesis and my quadras, which is known for its very fast speeds, though I'm sure there would be.

However, my style of photography tends not to require fast durations, and I've never really tested it.
 
The Genesis range (I have all three) seems to be very popular in the US, where user opinions and reviews compare it favourably with other budget flashes like the Alien Bees.

Cant say I ever remember them mentioning a disadvantaged flash duration.
