Hello

After the closure of a club level motorsport magazine, there isn't much for the club racer to read apart from some pages in the back of autosport and motorsport news. Plenty for Touring Cars and above, but not much for club level. By club level I mean the bread and butter stuff that circuits need to survive - I would concentrate on this going up to BTCC support level as a privateer could race in the Ginetta G50 or Porsche Carrera Cup.

Hence I've decided to do something about it. Visit Racing Exposure

The site will only work if people are prepared to put words & pictures on line.

I can't offer any payment I'm afraid (who knows maybe one day!) but I would offer links to your own websites. I would only need small pictures - say 800px wide, but I would need words to back things up.

I'm not into bikes, so am restricting it to 4 wheels. Circuit, Rallying, Sprints & hillclimbs. Race weekends, test days but not track days (unless its being used as a test day). Driver and team news as well.

Anyone interested in helping out?

I'll happily help out if needed.

There's much better people around than me, but I live very near Brands and have an "in" at silverstone. I know someone quite high up there who can always get me in :D:D:D

I would also be happy to help out, i think its a great idea! Pat on the back for setting it up. I am planning to get back into my motorsport photography this season after taking a year off last time.

Im sure i can add something from up here at knockhill, and working for one of the teams might manage to get some team info up aswell

Nice Idea Andrew. It might be a nice way to syndicate with larger magazines later down the line if the content is there.

Have you tried marketing this to the race promoters and tracks to see if they'll offer accreditation?

blimey, you've done a lot in a week!! site looks very good. grass roots racing is in desperate need of a boost in media coverage, Autosport has really turned into a token effort if i'm honest.

All the best in getting it up and running.

What a great idea and a very good site:thumbs: Watched loads of club motorsports last year mostly at Brands. That’s what got me in to photography.

Am a member of the Lotus owners club and have friends that race, if I ever have anything worthy of your site I will forward on to you.

Well done:thumbs:

I'd love to help, unfortunately I'm lacking the skills, photos, and a circuit to be of much use :D

I'm at uni in the northeast, but not much seems to be happening at Croft.... If that changes, or if there's actually a packed calendar that I have overlooked somewhere, I'd love to be involved (well, after a fair few practice sessions :D )

Chris

would it be an idea to make a link/thread (sticky)for you in the motorsport requests, then it keeps it there all season for you. just a thought

when i get a bit better defo send you some photos

well done

Hi Andrew, as you know Snett is just up the road from me. I used to shoot (mainly bikes) there many moons ago (late '70s to early '90s.) If you are ever unable to attend to a particular event/race/team there please contact me.
(I realise this is your home turf, and I am in no way as good as you, but if you ever get stuck I will try to help. :) )

Im also hoping to do a fair few kart meetings up here this year would you be intrested in something from them (you dont get much more grass roots than karts)

Good point, well presented.

I do a few Kart meets at Three Sisters if that is of any use?

I would be happy to contribute if possible. The site looks good and is needed, as I also share your view that club reports are fairly sparse in the printed press.

Ed

i'd be willing to contribute some words with pictures from rallies i go to, ANCRO, BTRDA, BRC (in it's various guises) and the odd one off events, be it tar or gravel.

First rally of the year is Wyedean, the traditional season opener, a cracking event. I'll PM you once i know more!

I have a season ticket to Brands and hope to soak up as much as I can this year. If I get something I can contribute, then I'd be happy to contribute it - just wondered of there was any template or "sample" articles to use as a guiide to content?

Andrew,

I'm near Castle Combe and have travelled to Pembrey on occasion before. If i'm there anyway I'm sure I can help out and submit...

Very dependent on other work though...if i'm off doing rugby or football then there's no chance...but otherwise, it's all good!

HI Andrew would be pleased to help live in north west, would be competing with Matt S lol but live near Oulton and three sisters so any help give us a shout
Paul

Hi

Looks a great site already, very happy to submit anything I can that may be of use (or Matt hasn't already beat us to :lol:) - added to favourites so I can find it when I attend Oulton Park next.

I cover all the Midlands hill climb events and I write for a local rag on all Shelsley Walsh meetings so I'd be more than happy to send a bit of stuff in now and then.

Very nice, I can take a couple off pictures but not very good with words.

You'll have fun spell checking Matt's articles :D

(sorry Matt! LOL!)

Could people send me an email please with their name and what they tend to follow. Cheers. My email is andrew at norwichphoto co uk

Had a few positive comments from 'proper' journos as well (by that I mean full time scribblers)

I'm just down the road from Donington Park, so assuming they get the track back in working order soonish I should be at a good few of the events there this season.
Happy to submit some photos, and may be able to string some sort of article together to accompany them.

I am led to beleive that there should be a positive press release this week regarding Donington and hopefully we will see action back there from April. Fingers crossed.

Yeah it all sounds good. The lease reverted back to the Wheatcrofts over Xmas (from the now insolvant Donington Ventures Ltd.) and there was a piece in the local press saying that Wheatcrofts were putting up the £400K required to get the track back up and running. It was also mentoined that they had several bidders lined up to buy the newly available lease.

DP already appears in the calendar for several race series this season, so it's fingers crossed.

Apparently "14 bidders" are in the running, but JP/MSV are not one of them "at this time".

I get the impression he's waiting til Wheaty has had a chance to realise the difference between a dreamer and someone with experience, then the bid will come in... albeit much lower than the dreamers punt ;-)

I'd love to help with this, what a brilliant idea!

Out of curiosity, where does this fit into the restrictions circuits place on use of photos taken by spectators? I believe you're only allowed to take shots for personal use?
