So, I finally gave in and bought myself an iPad last night. (3G version)

Can anyone recommend any decent Photography Apps or Accessories? Does anyone use the camera connection kit – if so, how does it fair?

Any comments appreciated.

A few apps -

Photogene
Photo fx ultra
Diptic
The Photographers Ephemeris

and for a bit of fun - iSwap Faces

I've got the camera connection kit.
for £25 you can't go wrong. works very well, you can't load to it, but you can select and import your pictures into the 'photo's' area and then sync them onto your PC later if you so wish.
I haven't used the USB fitting yet (you get SD and USB attachments), but I know it is a powered USB, as I have a little USB light which I plugged in to test, and it worked :D

As for apps, PSE is free :)

Download iBooks (free) and then you can read all your photography PDF mags on the iPad :)

The mags can be downloaded from various places.

Digital Photographer has an app to download and read their mags, but I prefer the PDF way.

Photoshop do a app for free, i use for doing some out and about croping.

Camara connection ket is cool too, use it for backing up and veiwing.

Not sure if you can use the EYE-FI cards with it but that would be cool.

Just ordered the Official Camera Connection kit - seemed better than one of the after-market imports that have flooded eBay.

oh - and I will, of course, be using the TP app too!

Great bit of kit!

Let me second that! And you can download your camera manual in pdf, too. The iBooks reader will "read" the pdf file similar to a book, so you can easily turn pages, mark particular information for easy finding again later, etc.

Very useful when traveling...

Maybe a bit obtuse but consider the Times newspaper. It costs but it's a lot less than buying the paper and a huge plus is lots of great high res colour pics which really bring the paper alive and are inspirational for a photographer. Prob true of other newspapers too but I have the Times. Tend to do 30 days free trial so you can check out for nothing.

FilterStorm. Brilliant app for processing pics, combined with camera connector kit and your sorted.
Currently helping with beta test FilterStorm Pro which so far is looking like an awesome app. Pro will let you upload to flickr/FTP to servers & a few other things.

Also depending on your technical ability you can jailbreak then with the camera connection kit you can connect a powered USB hdd :)

Also lightrac is an alternative to The Photographers Ephemeris although I've never used the latter so it may be better.

Having a good play with it tonight, and checking out all those that have been suggested. Many thanks!

There's a thread somewhere about best apps.

If you're importing pictures, I shoot raw and small jpeg and just import the small jpeg. Handy at rugby for instant feedback/selling. I can connect the camera up before I walk back to the clubhouse and the pics are usually imported after I've got myself a pint (or coffee)
