I currently have a Pretty Boy xxxl and have been thinking of upgrading to daily (if only just to carry my Eee PC around with me when I am out with the camera.

Is it worth selling the Pretty Boy or even my Tamrac Adventure 9 (im not a backpack person) and buying something like the 600 daily?

Anyone who owns one or both care to comment ?

Thanks in advance

Scott.

The Daily is pretty big, I had the 490 and found it too cumbersome for when I just wanted to take the camera and a couple of lenses out.
If it were me, I would keep the PB and use the Daily for when you need everything with you. Oh, thats what I did :bonk:!

Hmmm, if the 490 is cumbersome then whats the 600 going to be like then?

Might have to go and check this out in a real shop

Yeah i'm thinking of upgrading to a Daily since my Pretty Boy XXL is now too small to fit all my kit in.

The leather limted edition one looks really nice too, bit pricey though.

I have a daily 490, it is a bit bulky, but once you get used to it, quite a good bag. Not tried the pretty boy. I did look at the 600 in a shop and its HUGE... the 490 is a good size, I can carry my camera, 3-4 lenses and my laptop, filters and stuff, but big problem is if you can get all that in your bag, you have to carry it... can get tiresome after a while!

yes i like the idea of the 490 but i have a 17" laptop which they reckon will only just squeeze into a 600.

Oooh thinks i might look at the 750 as even my 17" laptop is a monster and would struggle with a Daily 600.. :shake:

But they are costly, I think it might be cheaper getting a smaller laptop :)

I have the 490. It's like an inverted Tardis I'm not kidding.

I can get a 40D (with grip and 17-85 attached) a 70-200 f4 L and a 50mm f1.8 (dangling precariously ontop of my L) and thats about it. Certainly doesn't fit my 15.4in laptop either even if I empty the damn thing.

I have the 750 XXL and my 17" lappy fits in o.k. There is a purpose built padded side slot that accepts laptops, but the bag itself is big and fully loaded it can be heavy, the padded shoulder strap is comfortable enough though.

I bought it a while back to hold Medium Format film kit, but it'll suit someone with a couple of DSLR bodies and 4 or 5 large lenses.

Forgot to add, the build quality is the best I've ever seen, and they will probably last a lifetime, which goes someway to justifying the high cost. Plenty of side pockets, zips & pouches too to lose all your ancillaries in.

is £89.99 delivered a good price for the 750XXL, it looks just like what i'm after, something big enough to put a 120-300mm F2.8 sigma in

that looks a decent price...have been looking around for a while now for an XL. I intend on using it mainly for work but also when out walking for the day when the pretty boy xxxl I have can sometimes be too small to fit everything in I might need (waterproofs etc)

Just thought I would update this post, I decided to go with the 600 after going to Jessops in Milton Keynes and checking them out for size.

If your thinking about getting one then I would go and check them out in person before you part with your cash and realise you have bought the wrong one.

does your laptop fit..? I have a macbook pro and can't decide whether it would fit in a 600 - I don't think there is anywhere local to me that has these in stock, or not that I have seen anyway!

It say it will hold upto a 17" widescreen laptop but wont be able to test it until i take my rock 17" home tonight, but what i can tell you is my Eee PC is flippin lost in it :)

The 17" rock is a big old beastie and tbh I wouldnt carry it around much (if any) of the time, was thinking about a 15" Macbook pro to cart around :)

I have a macbook pro 15"...if that will fit in the 600 then I may be tempted - I think the next one up (the 750?) may be just a bit too bulky for me.

A 15" macbook will fit in it no problem at all, in fact i have read that you can fit some 15" widescreen laptops into the 490 too, so you have a choice. :)

thanks  I'm not sure that the macbook pro would fit in a 490 as the internal dimension given on their site are smaller than the width of the laptop by a couple of centimeters

think I really need to find somewhere local that has them in stock and take my laptop!

I have just looked it up and you cannot fit a macbook 15" into a 490 unless you take out the camera section (not much point in having it then) so I would go for the 600 it will give you a bit of room and is not as big as I was lead to believe it was.

But better to go check one out in person tbh :)

nice one, thanks...I'll look into finding somewhere reasonably local to see if I can check one out in person, they don't seem to have in my local Jessops in Huddersfield...

I was in Jessops in Milton Keynes the other day and asked about the 750, they said do u want us to order it in, you don't have to take it or pay for it, then if you dont like it we will stick it on the shelf. So might be worth a try :)

Just thought I would update this with a little info about the bag.

The Crumpler 600 daily is built like a tank and worth every penny, It will take a 15.4inch laptop no problem at all but wont take a 17" one as they state in there bumph (well mine doesnt fit unless you remove the camera pouch and ram it in).

It has plenty of room and the camera pouch seperates so you can leave the camera at home and use the whole thing as a laptop bag. It really is a usefull bit of kit.

And it fits on airlines (according to the dimensions) but I reckon with your gear in and a laptop it will be pretty heavy so watch the airline weight limits and also your shoulder carting it around.

The 600 isn't too bulky is it? As you've said before this seems the smallest one that will fit a 15" macbook pro but big enough to still fit all my camera gear as well!

Think I'm going to get one from fotosense as it seems the cheapest place after a quick search.

A bit of lateral thinking, why not ditch the laptop and get an Epson 2000/3000 Multimedia Viewer or similar which have built in card readers. So then you could have a much smaller bag!

I actually carry round a 'slightly modded' Eee PC and a 80gb Ipod most of the time, it will view just about anything, can back my cards up, watch films, listen to music, email, surf the web and even do a bit of photoshopping (not easy on a 7" screen I tell you).

I have thought about getting the epson or even the canon version but the Eee PC has many more advantages and paired with an Ipod it makes a perfect portable system. Once I have found a suitable sata to CF convertor even the Ipod will be retired.

The laptop only ventures out every now and again but sometimes it is needed and there is no substitute.
