Talking of wide angles, I've gone and accidentally bought a Carl Zeiss 16-35 this weekend, not sure how that happened, didn't mean to!
Don't you just hate it when hat happens? :bang:

would you actually use the features of the newer model though or does the old do all that you need?
iirc the K7 IQ isn't supposed to be any better than the K20D (I don't recall how the in-camera processing of the Samsung is rated but I believe that there is a difference between Pentax & Samsung treatment).
Does anyone know if I can get a good, reliable M42 adaptor for my A700, because I would like to buy a few more really good lenses.

I've used this in Nikon fit (its just a re-badge of the Tamron) and its a very nice lens. Never sold well as its only a 7mm range and was always priced higher than the Sigma 10-20 and Tokina 12-24 but its a good lens. You got a good price there! Its better at 11mm than 18mm (no bad thing). I guess Sony will just re-badge the newer Tamron 10-24 hence the 11-18 reduction?

Don't know if this is of any interest to anyone but I'm getting rid of my A200 to fund an upgrade. Anyone fancy this as a back-up etc?

Don't think I'm breaking any rules by posting this here??!![]()

supposedly they are going to as a SAM lens..maybe sony will re-badge the 10-24,making it more appealing with the range.
on earlier production there seems to have been some variability in build quality but optically it's 1 of the best APS-C standard lenses going. How good is the Sony/CZ 16-80 and how much does it usually go for?

thing is that the reviews of the 10-24mm probably aren't as good as the 11-18mm (in the same way that the new Sigma constant f3.5 version of their 10-20mm doesn't review any better than the variable aperture 1 despite being significantly dearer).

on their own they retail for ~£500 (£480 at Jessops atm) new these days & a bit less as part of a body+lens kit.
Well I'm back in the land of the Sony, just ordered another A700!

Also got a Sony 11-18 on hold for me in Jessops, only £249 brand new, seems good!
got myself one of them last friday from jessops...bargain![]()
Anyone know the cheapest place to get hold of a Tamron 17-50? Trying to persuade the other half I need it...

Just got my Carl Zeiss 16-35 f/2.8!
Very quick test shows its maybe a little better than the Konica Minolta 17-35 f/2.8 - f/4 (Tamron re-badge) but in all honesty its very very close. At 17mm vs 16mm both wide open (f/2.8 on both lenses), the KM / Tamron may actually be sharper.. hmm...!
A200 sold....
I'm now cameraless with a pretty tough decision to make![]()
Get the rest of the money together and get a brand new a550, hunt around for an A700, or be peverted and get a used 40Deek
?........
Decisions...decisions......![]()
May take a look for a KM 17-35.......
Any advice guys. I'm just in the process of selling my Sony 28mm 2.8 and Sony 18-70mm 3.5-5.6 and want to get a good allround lens.
Have been looking at the Tamron 28-75mm 2.8
