+£4.00 shipping - it's not Amazon themselves but a merchant.

BalSanghera, Argos are oos for delivery but did you check local branch stock?
Some of my local branches have stock.

All the local stores out of stock too :bang:

Read the other day that Sony were/are to bring out a 600mm f4. That may be worth saving for if you're one of those Cad West / Mach Loop guys on here.
supposed to be a 500/4 (or 4.5) afaik but last rumour I read said that it had been delayed again ...

there's a nib Minolta 600/4 on ebay in America though - $6k (which is actually cheap)

"This Battery replaces the Sony part NP-FM500H and is a Lithium Ion rechargable Digital Camera Battery" you can pretty much bet that they aren't genuine Sony - & if you are happy with that then you can get 2 for that price on eBay ....

did you ask wherever you bought the body about a package deal?
I'm sure that they would have loved to sell you a couple more batteries & a VG ...

Just read that part myself rather pay a little extra and get Genuine batteries or do compatiable batteries last just as long?

but v4 came out 11 months ago ...

When I started to compare DSLRs on the web, it seemed that most of the reviews for the 700 were from last year. Most of the camera mags were from last year as well, because I am a bit of a cheapskate, and bought them down the local market.:'(

no mate..park cameras, cameraworld didn't have any in stock.my new A700 arrived this morning, along with the screen protector....going to play with it all later :D

just need the battery grip and 70-400 G SSM now....shhhhhhhhhhhh:lol:

My new lens and camera was delivered this morning... battery grip on its way... now I just need some extra batteries :help:

Got a grip myself.

Although mine is a copy, only has shutter release, i am happy enough with it. Its the one you see for £65 on ebay, but i was lucky enough to win it in auction for £26 delivered. If i like a grip enough, will prob get the original one

I can pick 1 up very locally to me if you want.
there is another in a store on the other side of the city too but that would require some special effort & petrol ...

if it's the 70-210 with the constant F/4 aperture, then yes,it will work...and very well too.the beercan(as it's known)is a highly regarded lens that gives outstanding results.any minolta AF lens will work on your A300

But he said it was a Sigma - the Beercan is a Minolta lens.

I'm not sure Sigma did a constat f4 70-210, the Dyxum lens db has a few 70-200 and 70-210 f2.8 lenses - these all look to be quire good, but the 70-210 f3.5-4.5 and f4.5-5.6 lens are not great, at least from the overall ratings.

just re-read alan's post and he says "sima 70-210 minolta lens",so a little misleading i suppose as i read minolta and missed the sima bit.i think alan is refering to the minolta lens..as you say, sigma didn't do a 70-210 F/4....but i may be wrong.

Hi the add read 70-210 Sigma lens off Minolta will fit Sony alpha camera's

I have had my A300 since christmas now, I was thinking of getting an upgrade.
So its between the A700 and the A900. Now there is a massive price difference. I shoot in clubs (sometimes pretty dark) I also thought about doing portraits in the future. Would the 700 be ok for this also? Just need to justify the bigger spend if needed.

Thanks :)

there are a couple of new Alphas to be announced very, very shortly ...
worth waiting at least a few days to see if 1 of those might suit better.

Great info, I am in no great rush as the a300 does work well, but really do need to treat myself soon!

Wow, old stock or what! `bought my second one in April, online from Best Camera. It had version 4.

Yes Marc it was old stock, as I mentioned earlier in this thread I was on the way to get one from Best Cameras but called in at the Sony Center on route. The sales person at the Sony Center said they were not selling the dslr range anymore & it was the last one for which I paid £674.99 with the 16-105 lens, which at the time was £190 cheaper than any where else. I also acquired a HVL42 Flash for £100 at the same time. :D

get V4 on it....unless you already have ;)

That was the very first thing I did Stan.
