No excuse whatsoever, plenty to photograph in the rain! ;)

Ive just read in a free practical photography booklet about cutting a small hole in a plastic bag put it over your lens & camera and apply elastic bands :D :woot:

Sorry for the slow reply.

I've bought from PIXmania and I've heard they sell from France/Switzerland, meaning they have to go back there for warranty work.

I won't know for sure until tomorrow (The camera was delivered to my work just as I'd got stuck on the motorway on the way home :( )

enjoy your new toy...jammy git ;)

all you need now is a 70-200 G lens :rules:

Hey Stan...I don't need any persuasion, already been drooling - unless any of you guys wants to part with one or/and a x2

...but, I think I need something at the wide end first, 'cos all I've got at the wider end at present is the kit lens from the A350 and that will will be going with the camera.

What do you guys think of the Sony (Zeiss) 16 - 80, anyone using it?...or suggest an alternative?....any point in going wider?

Any help greatly appreciated

It's alright, but not as good as the Zeiss 24-70 f2.8. Expect some vignetting from the 16mm end of the lens you mention - well mine does anyway. Apart from that it is a fairly decent lens. Must say though that I tend to use the 24-70 more.

Pixmania is owned by the Dixons Group but are based in France. You'll find that they distribute from the UK for UK deliveries though, so you won't have any warranty issues.

I take it you're going into work today? Playtime over the weekend then! :woot:

Unfortunately the 24-70 is three times the price. Might as well get the 70-200 G for that price! ;)

Yep, in work bright and early to collect my shiny new camera!

Just unpacked it all over my desk :) and now I've got to try and get it all back in the box to take home :(

You were right the warranty is European (including England) so i just have to register online on sony.co.uk.

:) :)

I've just had a call to say my CF card has arrived at the post room as well, so it's all systems go fo this weekend!!!

Hey Marc - I'm hoping to get the 70-200 G as soon as funds allow (think I've spent enough for now :'( ), so it's something to fill the gap up to 70mm I need...

JPS...just couldn't justify the cost at present, seem to be just over the £1000 mark...maybe something similar in the Sigma

Just had a thought. Would another prime lens be of any use? Something like the Minolta 28 f/2.8 perhaps. What do you guys think?

Hi,

I am really in a dilemna whether to go in for flash...have Sony A300..

I usually do portrait,family gatherings,nature and sight seeing ...have kit & 70-300

I dont go out to shoot at night this weather ..( lazy me)

of course thats for the time being...

so How can I use flash to transform photography...

do I need one???

Thanks once again in advance

Ajex

i just bought my a300.
also got the F42 flash at the sametime, due to cash back offer.
jessops priced match jacobs, so got it all at one place.

why did i buy one?
having had an external flash on the nikon d40 i had before, the flash not being direct on the subject, and especially portraits was amazing, hence my decision to buy at the same time.

Some more pictures with the 50mm :D LINK
in daylight on f2.8, starting to like this lens, cany wait to get my 70-200:thumbs:

my £30 cash back cheque arrived today :woot: :woot: :woot:...can't wait to spend it on something now

what u gona buy now stan?
i got 2 £30 cheques from sony yest:D but they are just paying for the new lens:'(

i really like the 50mm, its cool, great for when its dark without flash.
hopefully put it to good use again soon;)

Me too.

Perhaps we should have a best photo comp of kids ripping open prezzies taken with a 50mm

Gentlemen (and ladies), is it possible to sharpen images on the A200 in camera?

Or is doing it on a computer the only option?

*Note to self: read instruction manual*

:help:

Edit: I've just read the relevant section in my instruction manual, and have reset my camera. I'm such a tool :(

Decided to leave the 50mm on all day, with mixed results. I was even convinced the lens was not focusing properly at one point.

Then my 14 year old comes along. Puts the camera in manual, bounced flash and 5 shoots later he produced this picture of his grandad.

Manual - f2.2 - 1/15 - 100 ISO.

Gentlemen and ladies, I have a serious question:

*Adopts serious expression*

Just how much better is the A700 than the A200?

I really like my A200 but I have a humungous wad of cash burning a hole in my pocket, and it's either some new gear or I'll be forced to take my wife somewhere nice! :shake:

HELP!!!!!!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!

i'm looking to get the A700 as a 2nd body, and what is attracting me to it is the FPS,which is 5...higher ISO/noise,which is better i'm led to believe...magnesium body and dust and weather proofing....
