Seriously, though, it looked and felt really nice. And it was £583, body only. Same as the cheapest I've seen on the interwebs :thumbs:

Might have to indulge after Christmas

Tis a darned fine price. I have seen it a couple of quid cheaper, but when you add the delivery cost and the happiness factor of walking out of a shop with a shiny new camera in a carrier bag......Just a shame it's from PC World! :bang:

As for mine, that is a massive understatement. I love it!! :love:

can anyone tell me if the lenses that fit a Minolta Dynax 505si will also fit my sony.

Yep. It's just an auto only SLR. Someone gave one to me and I tried it with the kit lens from my Alpha. I think any Minolta SLR over the last 20 years or so takes the A mount lenses.
 
£803 is a stonking price for that lens. It seems to be out of stock in most places in the UK.

I would've been tempted, but I think I'll stick with my 80-200/2.8

Indeed, IF they have it in stock. I came across a lot of good prices when I was searching for mine. Stock was a whole different ball game. This one is certainly the cheapest I've seen by a long way though. Might give them a speculative call tomorrow to see if it's in stock.

Whats the opinions on the 50mm f1.4 though? thinking of getting it to replace the kit lens?

I have the 50mm f1.4 and it really is a cracking little lens. I've never used the Minolta f1.7 version so I can't give you a comparison.
 
Hi all. First post (Will say hi in the newbies in a sec!)

Mrs NickTB has offered to buy me a 350 for Chrimbo. Having read through this though it looks like the 300 is a better bet? Can anyone shed any light on this?

hi nick,and welcome :wave:

the only difference between the A300 and A350 is the resolution.it is said that the A300 handles noise better than the A350,but having used both side by side recently...and i would say it's negligable.

Thanks for the reply Stan.

It's looking more and more likely I will go for the 350 with the twin lens kit. The Sony centre has agreed to pricematch Jessops, but throw in a 4gig card too. I reckon if I drop cash on the counter I may get a better deal :D

he did get a bid, from me.... but he cancelled it, and took it off:( he since hasnt replied to my email about it.
 
yea i noticed they have them back. im looking to get 1 end of jan/begining of feb. in the mean time, having a look at the 50mm 1.4:D
