Yes
We could be loosing 20 Channels currently on Sky & Now TV from 1st February 2017 following a dispute.

Sky and NOW TV subscribers in the UK and Ireland could soon lose all of Discovery’s channels and programmes. Every week, more than five and a half million people watch one of our shows on Sky. Our fans are amongst the most loyal in TV and we have invested significantly to bring world class channels and high quality programmes to the UK for nearly 30 years.

We are committed to finding a solution with Sky in order to keep bringing you the channels you love.

They're about the only channels I watch.

If they go then so does my sky subscription.

Channels affected include The Discovery Channel, TLC, Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2, Animal Planet, Investigation Discovery, DMAX, Discovery Turbo, Discovery Shed, Discovery Science, Discovery History and Home & Health

I'll be gutted if we lose the Eurosport channels.

wan't this the same as the NTL battle years ago with sko.
its basically SKY wont pay as allways.

vote and dump SKY.

Who is getting the channels instead?

its not like that its sky wont pay whatever they "the channel provider" ant so they will not be able to broadcast the channel.
hence the sky viewer will pay the same but get less.

So a ton of people will cancel and they will have to pay it or lose customers.

not so much they will blame the providor and say it is beyond there control etc and blah blah and still make billions :-)

Depends on the T&Cs of the Sky contract as to whether people can cancel without penalty.

If it's a material change to their detriment they should be able to easily cancel even if they are within the minimum term. Outside they would just give standard noticed I'd assume. Mobile companies found that one out.

But it won't stop sky putting the price you pay up .

I ditched Virgin about 3 years ago myself, me and the wife just found the utter dirge of channels quite confusing and just a bit nuts.
when i rang up they offered to reduce some of the channels by taking some out but it was all the good ones like discovery and nature.
We just got a massive roof airiel installed and use freeview HD.

i can see however there is need for these services to entertain and families etc tho.

I cancelled sky 6 months ago now. I don't miss it and I'm £500 better off.

I ditched it 8 or 9 yrs ago when I was paying about £35 inc sports/footy package. I thought it had got expensive THEN, cripes it's expensive now!
Sky can GTF as far as I'm concerned :jimlad: :bat:

I was paying £89/month for multiroom and no sports channels.

Now it's just freeview and Netflix and IMHO the content is much better.

Of course, a week after cancelling I got a phone call offering me 50% discount.

For the fastest broadband + landline + tv with all channels except movies £118 per month. Due to retirement It will be going shortly.
Blimey.

And people grumble about the license fee?!

Freeview box you can get them from curry's and argos. just need an outdoor ariel.

I'd get freesat over the sky version (similar name). If you compare, them freesat has more channels and sky still displays all their paid channels in the EPG so you have to work out which ones you can actually watch. Selecting a paid channel you can an ad trying to get you to subscribe to sky.

Also with the sky version you can't pause / rewind or record unless you pay them £10/month.

I've decided I'm going to go with BT. The channels I watch (BBC2, BBC4, SyFy, ITV4, Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2 and Sky News) are all there at a much cheaper price than Sky. The only thing I won't get (and will miss) is CNN International.

Sky have gone mad. They are now charging £10 to give customers a deal. The whole idea of calling to get a deal is that your paying to much in the first place. Time i left i think as i refuse to pay them the same amount for less channels( discovery channels) or pay them £10 to give me a deal that new customers would get for nothing.

E-mailed Sky last night to get details of how to cancel. Told them I'm not interested in any deals and asked them to post me details or e-mail if necessary. Will be cancelling the payment in a week if I don't hear - they can sue me if they want!

Yup, that's where I got the e-mail link from.
