I hope someone can help i need some quick advice, i picked up my new D300 yesterday, put the battery in and fired off a few shots, anyway i noticed the left hand side of the camera around the connection points got a bit warm, so i left it on to drain the battery so as to give it a full charge, then i charged the battery overnight, got home from work today put the battery in and it seemed ok, so left it on just to see if it got warm again, i also left the live view on for a while, but again it,s gone warm, i,m a bit worried about this as i never experienced it on my D50 or D80, so is this normal or am i over reacting, or should i take it back tomorrow, i bought it from jessops and to be honest i don,t want to be fobbed off on something like we will send it back to the manufacturers, which is something i won,t stand for as it,s a day old, so need some advice fairly quick from other D300 owners or anyone with prior experience of this, many thanks in advance.

I've never felt any temperature build up in my D300. I had a play with a trial version of Camera Control Pro 2 and noticed this in the instructions.
" To prevent damage to the its internal circuits, the camera will automatically end
live view if the temperature inside the camera becomes too high. The count-down
timer shows the time remaining until live view ends."
I would give Nikon Tech support a ring and ask them or raise a query on the web site.

Thanks gareth, can you tell me what is "Camera Control Pro 2 "

I can answer this one. Its software that allows you to shoot tethered, ie shoot directly to a computer. It also allows you to use the liveview function straight to the computer and control all the cameras settings via the computer. :)

I just looked out of curiosity and MK answered...but didn't say if your camera gets hot! Well does it, I want to know? This is better than TV soaps;-0

Me neither but I always have the grip on.
