Call blocking phones

I, too, did the same thing very recently. Was getting countless cold callers (mostly by "Talk Talk") on my former 31 years old landline number, even though that was ex-directory. Got a phone with a call blocker but that didn't work as most of the calls were "unknown" so they get through. In the end I decided to change the number hoping to stop those calls for once and for all. I suspect that may be the only way to do so.

Well, that didn't last long. Having changed the land line phone number three months ago and going ex-directory, I had hoped we had heard the last of these cold calls . . . but alas, just had one from Microsoft just now. I told them to f**k off and placed the receiver down.

Could your computer have sent your new number to Microsoft through your Account Settings ?

Try telephone preference service it doesn't stop it all but it sure cuts ours down

been too busy sorting out computer problems to get the blasted things set up.

Have had some minor fun with Microsoft technical services the last time they rang though [ no number sadly so can't report ]

They were very concerned to hear I didn't have a computer :D - they rang off in disgust :D :D

I love the look on the wife's face when the odd call does get through to us ,having owned a telesales business a few years ago I,m quite adept at winding these idiots up .and find it quiet funny

So you used to be the idiot that pays these idiots?

When I got told I've had an accident, I then proceed to tell them actually it was my dog, he had a dodgy tummy, and we had to replace to carpet. Once I told a woman to f off, she rang back and told me to go to hell haha. I said I'd join her at the call centre then :D

TPS can do nothing about the foreign call centres like the one that makes the fake Microsoft calls.

Only real defence is the call blocker, either standalone or inbuilt into the phones as discussed in the thread.

Just bought parents in law the same phones we have as they were getting plagued by calls - he keeps picking phone up now to check it's still working as nothing (but those allowed) is getting through [emoji3][emoji3]

Needless to say, they're impressed and I'm favourite son in law [emoji41]
