I've just bought this from fleabay.

Since I don't have a dedicated calibrating device I have tried getting icc profiles from internet. The ones like tftcentral look very fake - too much green, reds are more like orange, etc (their screen had a bad tint?).
I am trying to compare it with iPad 3, which is pretty much quite accurate in my understanding. The best I got was using apple tool with the grey sliders, now I can at least see reds.
What are your experiences, and what profile would you recommend?

P.S. Is some noise normal from the monitor? If I put my ear close to the back panel I can hear short crackling sounds at 1s intervals, or continuos while the screen is powering up from standby. This is completely inaudible at normal working distance. I only noticed as I was messing up with the cables. (2007wfp makes faint constant hissing noise instead). Is this something I need to be concerned of? The image is very clean, stable and spotless. edit: the noise goes away completely at 100% brightness, and slowly increases towards 0%... A00 rev if that changes anything

You're wasting your time looking for icc profiles. Your monitor is not the same as another and will probably be in different lighting conditions.

Software calibration is not particularly accurate and unless you have 100% colour vision then you may just be compounding a problem.

Get or borrow a calibration tool to be sure you are getting something close to accurate.
