Calibrating a lens with or without sigma dock

Hi Guys,

I am wondering if one of you could give me an idea of the easiest way for a novice to calibrate a lens. I recently bought the Sigma 50mm Art and would like to check whether it's focussing properly before calibrating it. What's the best way of checking this? Can it be done in camera (5dmk2) of do I particular software etc?

Is it much easier/more accurate with the docking station? If so I might just buy one of these.

Google "dot tune" method.

+1 for Dot Tune. I've tried a number of methods including Focal software and found Dot Tune the easiest, quickest and most consistent.

I sold it mate and bought the 70-200 2.8 is mk2 as a one lens solution. i loved the Sigma though.

Okay, thanks. Just tried the dot tune on all my lenses. Need to test them next week to see if there any improvement.
